my friend and I built this in about an hour one night after we wrecked the nitro a little early and had some time to kill let me know what yall think and yeah now we can take it off some "sweet jumps" napolean

LOL, thats a tiny pic. Looks good from what I can see though. I'd like to see a savage just smash through the jump Napolean style, that would be funnny. :)

Looks like a huge ramp. I need to build one too. I think you almost have to have a lip or concave on one to get air.

I got a set of those skateboard ramps and and I prop em up with something underneath to increase the incline.

I made this one (actually 2):

I can't wait to see how far my Mayhem goes off that one...

I do the same.. Them plastic ones ya can just buy at walmart and stuff... I'm gonna make something up though. Just to carry me over till the track gets done..

candyman that plywood looks like the exact thing that we used on mine it seemed like it might be too thin. btw its about 24 inches tall and 30 inches long I can't wait to launch anything off it one more thing how do you re-size a video my friend has one thats 105mb, its me driving the truck with only 3 wheels after he wrecked it LOL

I bought a whole bunch of that kind of wood (maybe thicker) and I'm planning on building a ramp like yours candyman, only wider and longer, but not as steep... It will be sweet but i don't know when I'm gonna build it. Always something else on my mind...

be sure to be careful not to stand on it or put too much weight on the edges, my friend did and thats why we had to add the middle braces, to even the curve out when his hand went through the side

The sides are made of 3/4 inch ply, and the top is 1/4 ply so it bent really easily. I put a few cross braces just to make sure, but my Maxx never even came close to breaking it. The only downside is that it's narrow. But from a sheet of 3/4 inch and half sheet of 1/4 inch I made 2 identical ramps so I just clamp them together and they're wide enough.

I used to use a piece of peg-board propped up on the toolbox for a ramp.
it worked good because it was so flexible, and it made it's own "lip" when the truck would hit it... I used to get some nice launches off of that thing.

here is a better pic sorry I suck at life

30 long (at ground level) and somewhere arougnd 24 tall haven't measured the angle yet but when I go home I will check it out

oh and when I take my truck off this will I want to have a stiffer or a softer suspension????

Its all prefernce. I would start with a little bit of both...

well when I was hitting the ramp ( a smaller one ) it would sound like the suspension was bottoming out and I thought, humm this can't be any good
:hammer:

well I got to try it out tonight and I really liked it, it took a little getting used to the way these things float but it was a lot of fun, I never went much more than 5 feet in the air, but It was really cool, I can't wait to really LAUNCH my savage, (THANKS RUSH RC) off this thing, I just hope that its wide enough, it was just a little hard to hit since my front yard was really bmpy and trying to line it up at speed was a little difficult at first. if you are thinking about a ramp I say DO IT THEY ARE really SWEET JUMPS

So... what did you put under the 1/4" ply? i dont get it cuz its hard to drill holes into the side of the 1/4" ply cuz its really skinny and it wouldnt hold up... do i put like blocks of wood across under the 1/4" ply so i can drill holes into that?? i need like instructions or something. I really don't know the concept.

I am pretty sure that there is some structual bracing under there somewhere prolly 2x4's, thats what I used.

Actually, for the most part, there's nothing under it. Since the sides are 3/4" ply, I just used some short drywall screws right through the 1/4" face and into the sides. Granted, it's not the greatest idea. You might be better served by getting some 2x2 or something like that to use as crossmembers. I'll have to get some more pics when I unpack them for the summer.
