Nice looking pups. I had never been much of a dog person. Always cats. Well, guess that had to change at some point. My girlfriend moved in and I had no choice.
Meet Poppy. She's a 3-year-old, 80 pound Akita. And she thinks she's still a puppy. A damn strong and heavy puppy.

Just had him fixed yesterday.. The poor bastard has to wear one of those lamp shades for 10 days... Whenever he walks by, I feel like I'm in Florida, and should throw change in it.. lol
He's really turning out to be a great dog... I dont think I've ever owned a smarter dog either...

ImBroken, Springers are real smart dogs and a nice size. Only drawback to them are a bit of an oily skin (for water purposes) so they need to be bathed to keep them smelling decent, and they shed a lot, like a Golden. Springers are VERY smart and train easy for tricks and obedience. They usually are not overly territorial as far as barking. They also have limited health issues, mostly ears and eyes. Keep the ears claen, and dry. If they get an ear infection it can be very painful for them.

Thanks for the info Revo... I'm wondering if his coat will get oily as he grows, because right now its not oily at all.. I plan on having him shaved down in the summer, not real tight, but short enough to keep him clean.. I was told about the possible ear problems.. Any tips on keeping his ears clean? Something I can do on a daily/weekly basis?

I did the same thing as soon as it got warm in spring. Sometimes I did it twice a spring, summer, but our season is longer here. Oily skin makes more of a scent than being noticeable on the coat. You will know what I mean when you smell it for the first time. Smells sour. Not like a wet dog, just sour. Cockers have the same probelm. The two dogs are very closely related. BTW, Brittany Spaniel is not a true Spaniel breed so they do not have the stink.

As far as the ears, just make sure they stay dry if the dog is in or under water, plus check for ear mites. If your pup rubs it's ears a lot, check it out. You will see black crud which is ear mites, or the dog will have a lot of clear, thick discharge if it is an ear infection from water. Mine eventually went deaf because I did not realize she was getting water in her ears by running through the sprinklers every afternoon when it was hot out.

Its velcrows around their neck so they can't move their head and try to lick where their balls used to be. Its a lot more house friendly and a lot more comfortable. You may want to go to the pet shop and take a look.

Hey Revo; it seems our dogs had the same toys... Well, mine did, until she multilated it 5 seconds after I turned my back... Kinda funny really; she was about 8 weeks old at the time, I turned my back, I hear this growling noise... I turn back, and she's trying to dominate it. Next thing I know; RIIIIIP, fuzz everywhere.

She's normally sweet and docile otherwise... and extremely playful. Here's a picture of her attacking the sprinkler;

I almost didn't get her back, due to this face;

She's a queensland heeler/corgi mix. At first, we thought she might be german shephard, due to the fact that she was grey and black.

I woke up this morning to see the dog in a ball, licking his sutures... He can still reach em with the cone on.... I'll try the pet shop this afternoon for the collar you suggested..

Yeah, Heartbreak, mine started to hump a few of her toys last night. I thought it was a little young for this but she goes to the vet today for thefirst time so I guess i will have answers by this afternoon.

Imbroken, I use this solution called Nolva-Cleanse on my Black Lab's ears. She's not crazy about when I have to do it, but it pays off in the long run. You have to almost put your dog's head in a full-nelson and then squirt a good bit into his ear. Then, you work it around at the base of his ear then use cotton balls to wipe it clean. No doubt, once you're done, he'll rub his ears on the carpet, so be prepared!

Congrats on the Springer! He's a good looking dog!

Thanks for the info bro... My wife stopped at the groomer this morning, and was told to pick up these special ear wipes from the pet store.. I haven't seen em yet, but I'll check them out tomorrow... He really is a great lil pup...
