Dude that is Awsome you had a good first day in my opion. Hell you got it started and got it to idle a bit. The idle screw is for setting the idle you turn it clockwise to open it and it will let in more air which will cause the truck to idle higher. turn it counter clockwise and it closes it which makes less air which means lower idle..

Man again good job. You figured out some very key things on your own. I have a felling this hobby will come pretty naturally to you. In a month you will be reading some of the stuff that other newbies do and you will think your first day was a walk in the park.

Also did you get any blisters from pulling on the starter? That means you poped your R/C cherry...X

i guess my max st pro didnt have what it takes to pop my R/c cherry...

my max st didn't pop my cherry yet either. I'm on like tank 9 or 10 and no blisters. :P

I'll keep that in mind. I haven't let it sit out in the cold yet after a run. After I'm done I drag it back in the house.

Wonder if my sig works.... :)

When you know you're having fun is when you drag it back in the house to let you fingers thaw, not to let the engine cool. :)

hahah true true

I hit a few of those snow banks you were talking about. you get some nice air off them. :D

Of course you do. Just thank your local snow plow driver. :) Mine at the house were almost 2 feet tall :D

We had some snow banks about 4-5 feet tall so we were using them to jump the fence it was fun but resulted in a few breaks

This one time, I jumped a snow bank but when I went over to the car, I didn't see any tracks on the bank itself. Apparently, I hit a little incline (tracks there) at the start of the snow bank and the car cleared the rest of the bank LOL. I dont have the gonads to jump off the huge mosterous piles.

Parts are cheap, and just think, unlike a four wheeler, there really isn't that much risk involved :D

if I broke something, I'd have to shell out for shipping from tower then I'd be like this: :ball: until the ups guy comes. until I have a complete set of spare parts, I'm gonna baby it. :p

Whats the fun in babying it one of the most fun things in this hobby is fixing your breaks (plus when you break stuff you will have an excuse for the wife to upgrade)

it's still fun :D I've jumped it a dozen times or so now. Worst that happened was the body clips falling off and a crack in the back of the body near one of the tail lights.

I have yet to make my first run, seeing as how it's still in the mail, but exactly what do I need to get it started? It's an HPI Nitro RS4, and I just need to get it running Ok when I get it. It comes with everything except batteries and fuel, so when I get it I may have a few questions.

Get a temp gun This is the best first tool to get.

One of the first things you need to do is get a fuel filter, and possibly a better air filter. But the fuel filter is a must! Follow the instructions break in procedures to a T. Which RS4 did you get?

BTW Welcome to the forum.

Ohh man that brought a tear to my eye. It's crazy how much you can lean in seven months. Like I learned how great the Duratrax Maximum ST is ... :ponder:

Thanks the the stroll down memory lane. :classic:

My ST didn't break my cherry either, ROBH looking at all your post I can see that RC is coming very natural to you, thats great, welcome to the forum I was like you just a few months ago, this board is a awsome place when you need help.

One thing I wanted to point out to you, when jumping things with your ST, becarefull after its broken in and you hit 2nd gear, the thing flys, when you hit a jump in 2nd gear make sure to tap the brakes while its in the air, so it disengages 2nd or esle you could get a stripped spur gear ( those are the big round gears) Have fun

oh crap, jsut realizde how old this thread is......oh well:breakdown

HAHAHA!

The Maximum ST got eaten by a Maxium BX and I made truggy out of it. The engine crap and has sat on the shelf for a good 4 months. With a new engine, new tires and a wing, it might be fun again ... but then again it's made by Duratrax... :puke: I can't even bring myself to sell the piece of poop... it wouldn't be fair to the buyer...

Big block engines are just more fun for me. I love my 1/8th buggy.

I thought somebody dug this up intentionally for your benefit and our collective amusement, Rob. ("Hi, I'm Rob, I'm an RC newbie!")

There's bumped threads.

Then revived threads.

This one was exhumed.
