Me and my girlfried live together and last night she did the favor of babysitting for one of her friends. A ten year old girl and her younger brother. Well i was working on my month old K3 lastnight and just left it and a few tools on the living room floor when i was done, and went to bed. The kids slept in the living room where i thought my K3 was safe until the girl got up, took my wire cutters and proceded to cut every single thing in my radio box to pieces, she also cut the fuel lines. But she was not done, she then took my screwdriver and just started unscrewing the servos, and did somthing with some of the Ti screws and little blue washers. Yes most of the damage is repariable still this is what it would cost to replace if i could not repair some of it:

Futaba R203HF reciever (cut antenna too short to use) $90
Futaba S9350 Digital Servo (cut wire) $150
Futaba S9451 Digital Servo (cut wire) $120
Rechargable Hump Pack (cut wire too short to repair) $30
Power switch with recarge plug (too cut up to repair) $10
Pack of Ti screws (lost) $?
Pack of blue washers (lost) $?
Fuel line (cut into 1" pieces) $?
Lost time running my K3 $priceless

Grand total so far $400 not counting the prices for the above that i dont know plus 8.25% tax. Prices are at LHS were i buy, not on the net.

I sure hope she enjoyed damaging about $500 worth of stuff.

I must say writing this has calmed me down some, needles to say i was :censored: mad
Well just wanted to share how my day started this morning, i will now start the repairs after a make a run to the LHS to buy parts.

You guys have a great day, and most of all keep you RC's and radios away from 10year olds

all those electronics can be repaired, if you don't send them in for repair let me know and I will buy the lot off of you! I bet you anything the rx and two servos can be repaired for around $30-$40 which is WELL worth it. Thats sucks and I hate kids for reasons just like that one. Sorry to hear it for sure.

and btw I just got 2 Futaba 9451's for $160!!!!! $40 more than you paid for 1! www.servocity.com

Damn dude that just sucks, the next time you need to put up a barbed wire fence around it with gaurd tower and motion sensors. That will slow them down. Hope it all goes together ok.

That sucks man. I have an 8 year old and she would never do that. Was the kid pissed about something?

Yes HumboldtBlazer most everything can be repired or i will send them in like the RX (it only has about 1" left on it). I learned about servocity here at RCNT after I bought the servos at LHS, and that burned me how much cheaper they were on the net. The prices above were just what i paid for stuff she decided to have fun with and cut up, not what it was going to cost to fix, i hope to get it running again for not to much.

Man I can feel your grief, did you do anything to the kid? If that was me, I'd make the parents pay for it or at least half of the damage.
:8-0:

I feel you'r pain man, I was running my Rs4 3 SS last night in a local parking lot when a real car ran it over, but I lucked out only about 60$ worth of damage. Here is the the list .
1 coolling head. 50$
1 Dog bone. allready had
1 tire, wheel. allready had
1 shock tower allready had
so if i add it all up the cost of the cooling head and the parts I had, it came to about 60-65$ not to bad considering a real car ran it over.:egad:
Good luck on getting you'rs back on the road.

lawsuit anyone? that is if the kids parents don't agree to pay for all the damage...

Um, that's pretty stupid to say that. Little kids will do stuff like that. I know when I was 10, i'd of probably straight up destroyed the car. It's nobody's fault.

It's really a shame what happened, but if it's anyone's fault, it was the owner since he left the r/c out (I know that sounds horrible)...

I agree.

Yeah man, you can fix that Rx easy too. doesn't matter if the antenna is too short, lool. I got two words for you Speaker Wire! cheap as hell, good rececption, and solders right in the place of your old ones.

i say we just give waste land a roll of speaker wire some metal scrap and some rubber and have him build a 1/10 rc. :) you can do it!

Seriously don't make me break out the RS4 pictures before i fixed it..first it was duct tape holding the exhaust to header then i did the Waste Land extra stregth upgrade to paper clips. Dont even ask how i get glow pluggs in hahaha.

hell ya!! i would def make the kid pay for it!! its his house he should leave anything anywhere!!!! $500 is a poop load of money gone in one night!!!

When I'm working on my car i always move it to a safe place like on a high shelf where meddling kids can't fiddle with it and never let them have a go when i have it out!

The kids were just being kids. Think back when we were kids and some of the stuff we destroyed just because we were kids. I have a 6 year old daughter and I don't leave anything I don't want her to destroy within her reach. I make a habit of getting her involved with minor things I am working on my rc's but for the major ones I wait until she's not around so she does not get any ideas.

everybody in my neighborhood has nitro r/c. its pretty cool there are like 6 of us. all kids. and since my house is the bigges (and my parents support us the most) we dedecated a room to r/c. and whenever someone gets made at another, his truck gets "the treatment" aka vasline on the chassis, no more shock oil, holes in the fuel tubing, and zip ties on everythign. its not any real damnage but it sure does piss you off when you get home from school and you go down the hobby room and ur truck has 50 zip ties on it and its strapped to the pegboard covered in vasiline....
