And my first experience with an outrunner motor. This thing is great! It was a Christmas gift from the wife and we both like it so much, I'm going to get her one as well.

Very cool, congrats. Some might disagree but I think Redcat has some killer crawlers.
I won't say that about their bashers however.

Looks like a capable rig. Congrats. At first with redcat, ren and skimpy came to mind. 😝🤪

Tenth scale or smaller?
Its the Ascent Apex 1/18. For an RTR, its pretty impressive. Its built with an actual esc and separate rx unlike most small scale RTR's I've seen lately. The Tx. is pretty good quality. Even has EPA. I ran it through the first pack topless just so I could watch the motor spin. Oddly satisfying....

I hate to admit this but it crawls better than most stuff I've built. I ordered a set of those fancy scales so I can re examine the rest of my fleet.

Redcat makes some killer stuff. Congrats! I have the ascent18 in the green. I put a set of wheels and tires on it but that's it.

My kid [27] was over the house earlier, had her setting up obstacles and crawling around the place. Big smile the whole time. I also have their drift car builders kit. Another very high quality piece from them.

Its the Ascent Apex 1/18.
That little crawler has a very impressive reputation... the reviews I've read and videos I've watched praise it highly. Enjoy it in good health! :thumbs-up:

I recently bought this Toyota body on a whim because it was pretty cheap and I really liked the look. Its intended for the TRX4M which I dont even own. Would it be silly to mount it to my Apex? I know its heavier and will add weight to the top side but ... but.... it looks really cool. Opinions?

Its the only true 1/18 I have. My other option is to build a TRX4M which I'm not opposed to. Just that I've heard less than stellar things about that platform.

No idea on what it might do to handling but it sure looks good!!! 😍👍

I wouldn't even consider a TRX4-M if you have an Apex. Add a little more weight down low (brass) to counteract the added weight up top and rock that killer body!!!!

@Mrgoodwrench35 It depends what you want out of the rig. Some folks like scale looks, some folks like performance, I'm usually happy somewhere in between.

Great looking body, you may lose a small bit of performance but the Apex is so dang capable to start with, However, if you don't want to lose any performance, I would consider picking up an Ascent 18 to put the Toyota body on. It's still a very capable truck, just not as expensive as the Apex.

Thats a great idea!! This is the best darn group of enablers I've ever had the pleasure of being a part of.

They also make brass and aluminum lower cog parts to compensate. 😝🤪🫡
