Anyone remember these? Since we're selling our house and moving, we've been cleaning out a lot of stuff and I ran across this. This is the first nitro vehicle I ever owned.
This is a Cox Boogie Van from the late 70's. It's not r/c but is powered by a Cox .049 nitro engine. It was a pain to start, you had to flip the white knob at the back by hand. Once started you adjusted the carb for max rpm then pushed the switch on the bottom to engage a gear to drive the wheels. There was also a gear to drive the white shaft on the side that rotated the cam in the middle which in turn steered it. It has several different cams to drive in different patterns. Lots of fun back in the day, got me hooked on nitro.
I thought some of you might enjoy seeing this piece of nitro history.

Everyone have a good day, don't forget to tell your wife/gf you love her.

We actually had 2. One looked like some sort of dragster thing. Another one looked like a Matador police car. And it had a tube coming out the back that hooked to a "remote control" that let you steer the car using a bellows pressure pump to move the wheels back and forth.

Was it nitro powered? How far away could you be and still steer it? Sounds really neat, I'd like to see one of those.

We actually had 3 of these vans,my brother and sister and I all received one for Christmas one year from our uncle. I later bought an "Adam 12" police car and had a dune buggy too. My brother still has his van and the police car and I have the other 2 vans. The buggy is long gone.

I remember having a Cox 3 wheel ATV. It had a pull start if I remember correctly.
