Yes, it's aluminum. And yes, it's big. My favorite addition so far.

that must have added plenty of weight, won`t help the handling much all the weight at the ends.

There's a stabilizer system on board that handles the weight perfectly. The aluminum is pretty light. It still flies. I'm not trying to set speed records, just enjoying my toys.?✌?
