just got a fantom fr15 for my birthday and each time i start it it runs for like 2 seconds and then shuts off i adjusted everything and then put it back to the factory settings and it still does the same thing...the carb is opened about 1 mm like it should be...the hsn is turned out 3 turns like the manual says...and the lsn is turned out 1 1/2 turns like the manual says....WHATS WRONG....I'm frustrated, i just wanna run my xxxnt with that beast in it

There are several things to look at.
Are the fuel lines hooked up properly. Make sure the pressure line is inserted into the pipe or on the nipple.

Make sure your glow plug and glow stick are operating properly.

Are you getting fuel to the engine? Look to see that the line is full of fuel. You may need to prime the lines by holding your finger over the stinger on the pipe and pull the cord a few times or pop it with the starter box, then take your finger off and try to start it.

Sometimes the factory brake-in settings are to rich. Try holding the carb open about 1/2 way while starting it and feather it to keep it running through the first tank.

Try to lean the HSN 1/8th of a turn clockwise.

Look at these things in the order they are posted

Please let us know what you have tried and what hapens.

the lines are properly hooked up and fuel is getting to the engine....when i put the throttle half way and try it starts and then i let go of the throttle and it dies...the carb is set right too.....trust me I'm not a newb...I've been into nitro rc for 2 years and i know what I'm doing

If this is the case, Lean the HSN 1/8th of a turn and try again. you will do this up to 4 times. Total of 1/2 turn. If you need to go any farther something else is going on.

Your saying it stays running until you let the carb go?
If so you may also need to adjust the idle screw until it stays running.

Sometime the more we know and the longer we have been doing this we tend to over look the simple things.

i know the idle screw is set right i already stated that...i will do what you said about leaning the thing tomarrow

You also may need to get the engine up to temp. If the engine does not get "hot" quick enough it may be too tight and be stopping itself from the snug fit of piston to sleeve (kinf of friction braking).

If you get it started by keeping the throttle input in, then keep the throttle in until it has been running for a bit. This will get the engine up to operating temps a little quicker and reduce some of that snug fit as the heat causes expansion in the internals of the engine.

I have a Fantom .15 and the tuning portion was a little tricky early on, but once set only needed a little tweak here and there.

Once you get it running, you will need to look at adjusting all needles to keep it that way. The idle set screw may need some adjusting (the gap method is a starting point only). The LSN and HSN will definitely require some tweaks to help keep it running.

Sounds like your lsn might need to be leaned a hair. Fact. setting was too rich when I broke mine in.

the LSN was too lean so i richened it a bit and now it idles great:naughty:

if your still having problems try sliding the carb farther out of the port, make sure if you have to do this that you seal it with silicone. the length gives the fuel/air mixture more time to atomize(mix) and it will give a more constant needle setting when tunning. either that or buy a boost bollar, that is factory set to be as lean as possible to get best proformance without killing the engine.
