Hello Ladies and Gents,

A while back I was trying to decide whether to venture to an electric rig or not. After your help I decided to convert my old XTM X-Terminator to a Brushless Lipo setup. After quite the delay I finally got the brushless lipo conversion completed. It has been so darn close for the longest time, I just needed a bit more tweaking. I finally got the correct pinion gear to mesh with the spur (cause I had been stripping out pinions like crazy).

Here are the specs on the build:

-Castle Creations Mamba Monster Maxx setup
-Zippy 5000 MAh 5 cell lipo
-Cheapy Traxxas receiver that I had laying around
-Blue water resistant traxxas servo
-Custom RC-Monster mount

Just took it for the first official spin a few minutes ago. I am really happy with the build so far. Insanely fast! The front tires balloon like crazy. I love the fact that its a buggy though, because of the low center of gravity and great handling. I tried to mount the battery forward to keep it flat while jumping and to keep the front end down. It worked well. can't wait to get it out in some dirt, and off some jumps later in the day.

Just wanted to say thanks for the assistance with the build! It turned out pretty cool, especially considering it was my first lipo venture.

Here is the old thread with the before pictures of the conversion, just in case you wanted to check it out!

And finally some pics of the finished product (at least for now).

Nice job! That looks super clean and I'm sure it hauls butt!

Looks great. All i'd worry about is that ESC Positive wire, with the exposed solder, touching something metal on the car, and ruining a pretty new lipo and ESC.........

Nice job on the build. I would put in a foam spacer to keep the battery from sliding.

Ah, good call on the exposed solder. Ill hit it with some shrink tubing to get rid of that. Thanks for the advice!

I'm working on a piece of foam for the battery tray as well. It will definitely be installed before I do any type of bashing!

Thanks for the suggestions!

You can also use an L bracket screwed into the tray to keep the battery in place.

Oh, that is a superb idea. That way I dont have to worry about the foam coming out or whatever. Nice!

if you use an L bracket, be sure to drill and tap the screw holes you need. delrin gets hot very quick if you just try to drive a screw in by hand and then it cools around the screw and you will more than likely break it if you try to back it out.

XTM brushless conversion

I really dig what you've done to your xterminator. I want to do the same to mine. Is it possible to get a parts list and where you got them from. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Nice I'm working on a conversion myself!
