Don't mean to piss on your bonfire, but that's a very old OPS motor (Mantua are the UK distributors for OPS) and it kicks out nowhere near 4.5hp. 2.0 - 2.2 would be more like it.
The tube connecting the backplate to the carb is known as a boost bottle.
hm since u no a bit (alot) more about that buggie then me rm would my XTR 3e beat that in a strait line drag race ( the XTR isnt very good on a track as the wheels are mainly in ther air )
Weird... what's up with the fuel line connected to the shocks? Was that a prehistoric way to do what integy fails at doing now with piggy backs?
I'm not bad mouthing your rig or anything. It looks like you should clean it, store it for another decade and sell it. It definitly has an "old" look to it.

In a straight line, most definitely yes. The Menace is significantly lighter than a 1/8 buggy and the 3-speed tranny means it just keeps on accelerating.
As you have already pointed out, the Menace can have difficulty in getting the power down and on bumpy grass with a few corners thrown in even an RTR 1/8 buggy is going to be more than a match.
