Just thought I'd post the progress of my Aftershock. I've only run about 1/2 gallon through it so far, but the second quart was pretty fun. Breaking in the Mach 26SS was a nightmare. One of the worst break-ins I've ever done. I believe I had a fuel delivery problem and didn't know it. Over the past two weeks (been cold and rainy/snowy out) I haven't driven the AS, but my eBay orders have been showing up.
So far it has RPM arms, RPM gear cover, 1400Mah receiver pack, airtronics receiver (for my MX3), 14mm savage hex's, HPI polished tuned pipe, 3mm metric cap head/countersunk screws for everything but the trans, the trans gear switch mod (higher top end) and of course, a homemade roll bar.
Replacing the arms was a mild pain, but only because I haven't worked on the AS yet. The fuel delivery problem that made break-in a total pain was a leaky fuel filter. At first it was loose and dumped fuel all over the truck. Then I tightened it, got it running had have run about 1/2 gallon through it. As I was cleaning it, I noticed a large amount of residue around the fuel filter still (a week later). Then I noticed when I tightened it, the o-ring came out and was pinched causing it to still leak. I replaced the entire filter with a spare I had.
Anyway, here's my truck with all the stuff on it. You may laugh if you like, but the roll bars I make tend to make bashing less bothersome. My revo and savage both hold up really well due to the roll bars.
Some of you will be surprised to see a whole body and the absence of hose clamps
I went kind of tall with the roll bar, but this allows the body to almost rest on them. That way when it lands on it's roof, the body won't flex so much and be so likely to crack. The body won't go any lower due to how it's mounted on the truck, so I had to deal with it.
I had issues with the RPM gear cover rubbing on the back of the spur gears. I drilled a hole in the back of the gear guard and into the chassis/frame rail, then screwed in a self tapping screw. This makes the guard stand more perpendicular to the gears and it no longer rubs. It rubbed quite a bit and I would have been afraid to run it due to excess drag and melting gears.
