After I shut it off, I can hear it "breathing". Last time I cleaned it, I sealed the carb, and I sealed the start plate, but I don't think I sealed the backplate. I know I didn't seal the head, but I'm not really where to seal it. When I pull it, do I just seal around the cylinder?

Would this also cause a problem with priming? Because I did test the fuel tank and lines, and those are sealed.

Or it this just a sign of the motor being too worn?

That sounds crazy! Is it just like one long exhale? Or does it sounds like it inhale and exhale?
Try sealing your backplate for sure. Don't seal the head, just make sure your shims (if any) aren't too smashed up looking.
Does it run okay overall?

It has a rough idle, but it runs ok on the throttle.

And not so much one long exhale, but a couple short ones.

Watch the video here, and listen to the idle vs throttle. I had the trim turned up just a hair, I need to tune the idle a little bit, and haven't gotten around to it.

Sealing the starter plate won't do anything for ya. Definitely seal the back plate, make sure the head is tight and that the tank cap is sealing properly. Try flipping the head shim over if your afraid of over-tightening the bolts or it just won't seal. Are you sure the glow plug is nice and tight? Sometimes the most obvious problems get over looked.

Yea, it's tight, but maybe the ring is shot. I pull the plug whenever I think I flooded it, and I may have worn the ring down. I have a few other rings, if it continues, I'll try one. The tank cap is sealed, when I tested it, I blew into the exhaust pressure line, and plugged the fuel line and the veins in my forehead popped from trying to blow through it. :hehe:

Sealed the back plate, found one loose screw. Pulled the head, everything looks good, but when I put it back together, I could still hear air when I turned the crank. So I tried the soap test. Found that the head shim is leaking.

Seriously? $1.66 for the shim, $6.35 to ship the stupid thing.

My .28 was doing the same thing last night.

found my problem though, when i put the transmission i put the screws that hold the "caliper" on a little to sung and the engine was super heating due to the added stress. luckily i check my temp from time to time, within the same tank, after i loosened those screws and added stress went bye-bye it went back to normal....:p:

Something that was mentioned to me at work today. Could the head or combustion chamber be warped? Will a new shim even fix the problem?

Got the new shim today, put it in. Still idles funny. I pulled the air filter off and reset the idle stop, ran it and adjusted it a little, seems awful high though.

I have a very hard time starting it, even when it's primed. It seems to be flooding itself, if I loosen the glow plug and crank it, then tighten it again, it will start.

The idle is very erratic, though I am comparing a Force .32 to a Losi 3.4. It also seems very loud.

The HSN seems too easy to turn, should I replace that? Or can I just take it apart and seal it?
