Help please,
My HPI Star 12Rss engine does'nt start when he is warm.
If the engine is cold (about 20 degr. C) there is no problem at all to get it running, but warm he doesn't start at all.
I have already tried the entire range of available glow-plugs. but that did'nt help. The low compression of the engine seems to be normal (HPI documentation) and the engine had run now for about 4 liters of (Tornado)fuel
Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be.

Can you turn the flywheel with your pinky? If so your engine is prob done. Could it be that your lsn is lean? or that your idle is too low. It almost sounds like the engine isn't getting any fuel. Also make sure your glow starter is fully charged because I've had a hard time starting mine when the glow charger isn't fully charged.

HPI engines tend to have HIGH compression. I have had 3 of them all were HIGH. In fact I still have the 12RSS non pull start. It still has MAD compression. I just stored it away.

If you are noticing low compression or the flywheel is easy to turn then you may have to rebuild or get it pinched. But reset the needles first to make sure

I think i know.
There is indeed very low compression. My son had unmounted the heat-sink and since that moment there was no longer a Head Shim between the heat-sink and the engine.
So i need to order one now (this will take a week in Holland). So boys, wait for my answers.....

Thanks a lot anyway.

Okay, Polarbear, we will be standing by. One problem......most of us don't have a clue to temperature in Centigrade, or what a liter is. Just kidding.
However, when you get it restarted, it would be very helpful if you had the temp reading in Farenheit, so we can get it tuned right if there's a problem.

Hey rolex,

When I'm helping folks on the other side of the pond, I use Online Conversion to convert everything so I know what they are talking about, then I convert my answers back so they understand what I'm talking about.

It works pretty slick. I found it a year or so ago when I needed to convert something... I think it was engine sizes to see what they were in ci and cc just for entertainment.
