I have amugin that takes a bump start (which i don;t have) can i get a pull starter for it or roto start .no $$$ for bump box

:\ it has a
O.S
MAX
RG
I don't know anything else about it never ran the car .(not new
was inherited from brother -in-law) it has been ran but not for a long time motor not froze seems to have good compression .

what nobody ever heard of the motor, come on 53 veiws and nobody can answer a ? about a pullstart. I NEED HELLLLLLLP

You need a bump box. Mugen is a pure race company. As far as I know, none of their buggies even have engine mounts tall enough to use a roto or pullstart.
Bump boxes are not that expensive and are 10X more reliable and start easier.
By the time you bought all the parts to switch it over to roto/pull, you'll have spent more than you would on a bump box.
Pics of the car may be able to clear things up though. You may be able to convert it, but I would not.

Most "bump start" engines require a new crankshaft and backplate. Then you have to get the starter mechanism. OS Max is an older engine series I believe. OS parts aren't cheap.

If you want to run it, then your cheapest route is probably a starter box.

thank you olds 97.

the motor is not on the buggy at the moment. I think it had a roto start on it (not sure, i have one in my tool box my son pulled the motor off and doesn't remember what was on it) if it was a bump start what kind of backing plate would be on it? it has a shaft sticking out of the back but no one way bearing on it. and i don't know how to post pic's. if i can figure out how to post pic's i would show ya all the motors i have and some of the cars trucks and buggys or whatever

Well, if it has a shaft coming out of the back of it, then it's a pull-start or roto-start.

You can upload photo's as attachments or create a photo bucket account, upload them, then put the links here for us to take a look to help more easily.

Uploading as an attachment is a bit limited, but is fairly simple to do. Create a new post, but do so in the "advanced mode" and you will see below the text box a section for "attach files".
