Finally getting around to building the Mugen MTC2.

I’m a Mugen fan, after building Xray’s for the last few years I can’t ignore how difficult the instruction manual, or more specifically, the way it’s written. The details are there, you just have to interpret it.

The MTC2 AWD is nearly complete, just need to finish the electronics off. I ended up with a 3.5 and 4.0 FDR for each of the cars (AWD and FWD). The Futaba 7PXR gear calculator is handy for making some tweaks to it. Needless to say, I spent a small fortune on spur and pinion combos prior to focusing on an FDR that I wanted. There are also differences between the AWD and FWD in max pinion size (without shimming top deck). I have to give credit to Mugen Seiki, the quality of the components is some of the best I’ve ever seen in RC. The instruction manual takes a lot of patience, it’s not as detailed as Xray or Techno, but if once the nuance is learned it makes sense.

Tell me more about this!

Nice pick up @Greywolf74 ! That MRBF is the main connection point for a mobile power station that I’m building, it’s centered on a 200Ah LIFEPO4 battery, 30A of mains charging, and soon to have a solar MPPT and AC inverter. It’ll include two 2-port RC chargers as well as some other accessories. My aim I to have all day power and charging at the RC track without relying on mains power. I wasn’t interested in running a generator, and this build cost me about $1000 less than a Honda EU2200i. More to come….

You gotta do a build thread on it. This sounds really cool.

Sick builds here man!
