I will probably just get alittle bit bigger tires and gear accordingly but that is just a possibility!
Actually, it's really not. You're pretty limited on tire size due to the design and offset of 1/8 wheels. Larger truggy tires & wheel will physically bolt on, but you won't be able to turn.
If you wanted a basher with big tires and big ground clearance, you should have opted for a monster truck. An MGT 3.0 or T-Maxx is a about the same size as a 1/8 buggy, but better for bashing (definitely not as good on the track).
I have two trucks that are similarly sized to my OFNA Ultra LX Comp, and both of them do better in rough fields. The Associated Polite 4x4 has about the same footprint and ground clearance, so owes it's capability mostly to a solid drive shaft front to rear, as opposed to a center differential. My MGT 3.0 (Mini MGT, 1/10 scale) is far better than either for playing in rough fields or negotiating larger obstacles. But the MMGT is also unruly on the track.
Conversely, I can run circles around most SCTs or monster trucks on a track because the buggy's handling allows much faster cornering, and the tunability of differentials and suspension allow you to achieve just the right amount of traction to get good acceleration without understeer. The only "monster truck" that seems capable of hanging with 1/8 buggies and truggies on a track is the Traxxas Revo (but not so much in stock form).
All that said, the OFNA buggy is definitely the tougher one when compared to the 1/10 SCTs and MTs. Much heavier duty suspension and drivetrain parts. My Prolite has been pretty dang durable, but being roughly the same length & width as the OFNA, it's not difficult to imagine that the 2 pounds lighter weight comes from lighter, smaller, weaker arms, links, differentials, axles, etc.
