Hey guys! Just an update I decided it was time to move up in the world! I am selling my volcano on ebay now, and I just won myself a new buggy! Not the biggest fan of the paint job but no biggy!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ofna-Ultra-LX-Nitro-Buggy-1-8-Blacked-Out-RTR-/271338634502

This is hopefully going to be a fresh start for me in the nitro hobby, and maybe you guys wont be so mean now that I have a """"******NAME BRAND"""*****

Will keep you guys posted!
Happy holidays all!

Thanks, really looking forward to seeing how it all goes. I will be getting the mach .28 as well thanks to nitro nerd! And will most likely become a supporting member in a week or two!
I also dont have a track, just a bmx track, and reallt no one around that has one, but I love the hobby.
Any tips on it th9ugh? Never owned a buggy or a 1/8th but can't wait :)

Congrats buddy. Buggys are a kick in the ass and very durable.
Do your research, download some factory manuals, get to know this thing inside and out.
While you're at it, check this out...

Congrats!

Saw that one, other than being kinda ugly (IMO), it was a heck of a deal. I seriously considered it, but despite it's many similarities to my Ultra LX Comp, everything that breaks during typical use (abuse) is different, so I'd have had to stock yet another set of parts.

Go ahead and pick up an assortment of shock oils and diff oils and let the fun begin

Agreed. Also, order up a full set of upper and lower arms with ball ends, and a set of front knuckles. These buggies are very tough, but stuff still breaks. Mine had a busted front upper arm and a lower ball stud that kept popping out of the arm when I got it, and I snapped a front knuckle on Sunday.

Also, go over the screws. OFNA puts out a good product, but like every other RTR, the guy assembling it won't be as careful as you would. As well, it's used, so vibration and impacts may have loosened some things up.

Yea I was set on a revo 3.3 one went for 166 I almost won and I missed a rs4 with a bump box and a ton of parts for 66. I wasn't even looking at buggies until nitro nerd sent me to r hat one and I had to bid. It looks great Besides the paint!!! God I am going to take a 1/10 scale chissel to it to get that horrible pain off.
And thanks guys.
And thanks for not bidding! I got it cheap haha, but do you guys have links to the aarms? Id like to stock up on some just incase.
I'm reading the manual now and looking stuff up

I think you got it cheap because it's uglier than a bag of a**holes.

Nothing wrong with that though, judging by the chassis plate and over all condition, the previous owner rarely ran it. That's a great score right there.

Check Fleabay for your parts first. You could darn near build a complete car with the stuff they have listed for your buggy. That would be my first choice.

Thanks trout. Great info and greatly appreciated! Jusy one question are all the lx 1 inner changable? And are the lx2 parts the same and usable? I'm trying to reasearch a millions things lol

I can't seem to find the ground clearance is for this buggy

are all the lx 1 inner changable?

Yes and no. The LX one base is different in many ways from, say, the Ultra LX comp.

And are the lx2 parts the same and usable?

Some are, some aren't. Just need to use part numbers from the LX one manual. I'm pretty sure diffs, axles, bearings and some other bits are the same, but arms, shocks towers, etc are different.

Thabks so much guys for all this info. I'm deffinately relearning all this as its all different then my littke toy truck... lol
I havent got it yet but I can't wait! I'm trying to learn as much as I can now and get ready, when I do get it I'm checking everything over twice to be sure and to learn it. I'm not rushing, and I'm not being stupid. I'm confident I will do alright !

Any ideas on ground clearance yet

Amen to that...find a base setting and put a good gallon through with it. For that I'd recommend something like 35/30 and 5-7-3 to start with. Once you get a feel for it...don't be afraid to start "experimenting". I am constantly trying out different diff/shock oils and different brands of them--they make a huge difference (as you can see I like to stock up). ;-)

That is good stuff right there. Below is a link to similar information to help get you started....

Regarding "ground clearance" if you are referring to ride height--I have no idea for that buggy. Try something like 28/27mm. You'll find 100% of your setup depends on the environment in which your running. I think Jose.28 runs a similar buggy. He can probably give you some great tips.

And yeah---congrats on it! OFNA is a very good brand IMO. Even outside my Hyper 7, I have a wide-breadth of their parts: run some of their hump packs, blue starter box, flywheel wrench, mounted tires (on-road and off-road), glow ignitor, car stand, etc. That buggy looks like it could be pretty beastly..but man you gotta clean that up and give it a new look. Can't wait to see what you do with it. You have a tenacious, no-nonsense approach to this, and have no doubt you'll put the work in to have something strong. But that body. What was that guy thinking?

What sort of engine is that? Kind of a red flag he's got the air-filter off. I'd spray it down and add a (very) little lube before starting it. Also would clean out the shocks and refill. If the suspension is still stiff, check the arm's hinge pins one might be bent. If the suspension is out--nothing else will matter.

I have the Hobao model. For you old school Hyper series guys...what are some of the differences between the models. I understand the business relationship OFNA/Hobao had/has. I'm wanting to know the difference in parts.

Jose you got a nice grab, sir. those parts are expensive...but they last a long, long time. I'm about to go off on mine. We should make the official OFNA buggy thread.

What happened to your a-arms? Or are you just stocking up.

Thanks

I can't speak for Ofna but my buggys have about 3/4inch inch ground clearance at the most. But that's what makes the buggy so tough. When your jumping, the chassis plate takes the brunt of impact, not the suspension arms. You can good idea how much abuse a buggy has taken by looking at the underside. You're limited on the size of rocks you can run over but these things handle like they're on rails because they're so low.

I talk about ground clearance as I'm afraid it might not be quite high enough. I will probably just get alittle bit bigger tires and gear accordingly but that is just a possibility!
I'm so pumped! This and the mach .28 motor that @nitronerd is sending me are my christmas presents:)

And I so agree its the ugliest thing ever but it was a great deal:)

Where do you plan on running? You'll be fine in a grass field, as long as it's somewhat "groomed", you may have issues if it's an overrun vacant lot.
