Tell me what you guys think.
I am thinking of switching my Fuel tank position with my Reciver position.
So the fuel tank is were the recivers stock position and the reciver is back by the engine. I have all the plans out and all I have to do is drill a few holes.
Be honest what do you guys think
 
It sounds like it has merit but I am worried that you may get fuel inthe RX box .
 
I put my recive in to one of those big thick ballons.
you know the ones that you blow up and put a rubber band around and bounce it back and forth. it works great.

As longa as you are protecting your electronics thats cool. Have you thought of the servo wiring? Is it going to get in the way?
 
no I took some shrinkwrap tube stuff and put all my wires together and I run the wires over the battery box and I used zip ties to hold it in place. anything else.
 
Why do you want to do this? When you refuel, you'll need to remove the body, no matter what kind of lid you get. Also, will the steering servo leads reach the Rx or will you need an extension?
 
I want to do this because it is easier for me to refuel.
I have cut out the right side of my body window for cooling and the way I have positioned the tank I can refuel the tank with no problems.
and the wires reach and I still have a good 2 cm of play in the wires
 
You're talking about a non-stock Maxx, correct

What's your motive for moving the components around? Weight distribution?
 
well I had a problem with refueling. it is the way I held things and one of my friends did this it was on a stock chassis and it worked out. I didnt get to see it run though but I have to much weight in teh back and I want to distribut the weight more evenly
 
I did that on mine as well. I put the reciever over the steering servo, the fuel tank at an angle where the throttle servo and reciever were (OFNA 125cc buggy tank) and moved the throttle/brake servo back where the fuel tank was.

I did this so I could fit the 125cc buggy tank on the maxx as I was constantly breaking the stock tank with the rear shock tower. I did it on the 2.5 maxx because I hated the throttle pivot thing and the fuel tank problem.

I did it on both a XTM 21 conversion maxx and 2.5 chassis maxx.

And thanks for the pics Olds, if you dont mind me asking how did you get the throttle linkage, did you custom make it or can you go and buy it some were.
and have you noticed any handling differences with the tank up front thanks.
 
It's a MT... moving a few ounces here and there doesn't really affect a whole lot. Or at least it didn't seem to.

I did it to fit the OFNA tank in, that was my only goal. I used that tank for about 5 gallons worth of beatings and never cracked it. I still have it as a spare for my savage since I don't have a maxx anymore.

The throttle linkage is an OFNA slider/spring and I think the stock linkage wire with some bends in it. You can buy 2mm threaded end rod at the LHS cheap and do whatever you feel like with it.
