Today's moving day. Not sure how long I will be offline but hopefully I'll have a connection before the end of the weekend. This is going to be one long day.

Congrats on the new place, try to have fun with the move. (moving just sucks).

Take your time, go slow. Your Internet connection should be the last thing on your mind.

Enjoy your new house. Unpack all the boxes get everything setup and arraigned, hang your posters, then unpack your computer in say 6 months or so.

Hey EP congrats on the purchase!! With todays prices in my area the lowest decent priced house is in the 600,000 area. WTF huh! Wel Hope you get everything sorted out so you can get back on line.

Good luck with the move EP. Hope everything goes w/o a hitch

Wow Jon, 600 G's for a house huh? I couldn't imagine trying to keepup with a 600 grand home. I live in a nice medium income house but there are some ritzy area's are around here too. There's a club development up the road where houses start at 400G's and if ya look in the paper there are some listed that I've seen for like 1.5 or even 2 Mil... Crazy money.

Congrats on the new house EP!!

Just shows how everyone is different. The first thing I did when I moved into my apartment was plugging in my modem to make sure my connection was live and setting up at least my laptop. hehe

I'm going to be going through the same thing in another 15 days.... Ugggg I am NOT looking forward to moving. Living in the new place...yes. The act of packing, moving unpacking... no.

And yes I will be one of those that makes sure electricity and internet are the first things working before even the first box gets unpacked.

oh moving just sucks the big one!!!i just moved in the my place last year and it was 1.6 mil.

Yo hb, if I move to hawaii can I work with you? hehe. I bet it takes a lot of stuff to fill a 1.6 mil home.... that's can't be fun

I hope everything went well for you today, considering the problems you had getting the previous owners out.
The last time I moved, the first things I did were:
Hook up all the telephones
Connect the TVs and stereo equipment (VCRs and DVD players can wait)
Hook up the router and connect the computers

This way, a good part of your life seems normal right from the start, and you don't need to crawl behind furniture and boxes to run wires or try to locate a problem.
When that's all done, you hire neighborhood kids to carry everything else into the house, and all you have to do is tell them what room it goes in.
Walk with a limp, and keep holding your lower back. Moan every time you get out of the chair. They won't bail till the job is finished.

3/4 way there. I got all of the big stuff moved and now all thgat's left is odds and ends. Luckily. I'll probably trash a bunch of the stuff remaining as most of it was in the nooks and cranies, most important, not touched in years.

Yeah man, throw away, or try to sell on eBay, the crap you don't need. If at the end of the auction it doesn't sell, screw it and scrap it! Clutter makes unpacking take twice as long.

Hopefully I will have the last odds and ends out by tomorrow. I took the day off from moving yesterday and started putting things together and so forth. I grabbed a load today at lunch today so about 95% is moved, at least the stuff that is not going to the dumpster. The fleabay is a good idea but probably not good for me because I will procrastinate putting it up for sale. I'll probably be better off just trashing it, including the 3" lift kit for the Jeep I traded in for the truck I own now. Shower time then back to work.

What shape is the lift kit in? If new, why trash it? You can probably sell that with little difficulty.

Funny you say that Ed. I was just reading the local paper today and there was an article talking about a new company that just started up around my area. Their sole purpose is to take your stuff and sell it on eBay.

Is it possible to see if the article is online and shoot me a link.

My company has recently been approved as an "Official E-Bay Drop Off Center" to do just that. I'm now in the process of setting up my retail stores to take in, process, sell, and ship peoples garbage on E-Bay. E-Bay is looking at this to be the next wave of online auction opportunities. Rumor has it that UPS Stores are going to purchase the exclusive rights to do this. Anyone who is pre-approved by E-Bay will be grandfathered in. If this will happen, who knows but it shows the level of interest in this cottage industry.
