I'm considering getting a crawler of some sort. I've looked around and am considering getting a 1/10 scale kit. I have a 1/16 slash that has a 550 12 turn brushed motor. My question is, If I were to put it in the crawler would it work? If not can I just put a larger pinion gear on to give it more torque as apposed to speed?

It's not ideal, but the motor may work if the gearing is low enough (the ESC will overheat). However, the lowest gearing may not be low enough for crawling (trailing should be fine). It really depends on the car you are going to use it in.

Also, just an FYI, a smaller pinion increases torque, not a larger pinion. I think you got it confused with the spur gear.

I think you would be better just getting a 27 or 35 turn motor

I think the 12 turn motor will be fine.. as you said yes a larger spur will give you a slight more torq.. I dont like wrong info given by many ...larger spur with same sized spur b4 change will give you more torq not vis-versa.UGH...in all reality I think you will want a much larger turn motor for a crawler..

Thanks Turbo Charged Honda for the fyi. now I know the difference.:) Thanx guys for all your help! Also I've gotta quick question for ya. Are all/most motor mounts standardized?
