motor question for a friend...plz help

A friend of mine just purchased a new xl with a 5.9....did all the break in and so the problem begins. This thing will absolutely not run worth a F@#K...no rythmn and no sense. when in idle (with wheels of the ground) it will start screamin like a mofo...then just start to stutter...level off normal and stall. Take a bit to start...then idle like SH#T and stall again...no idea where to start...all needles have been put to factory settings after trying everything else with no prevail. Everytime we start it, it runs different than the time before and has left us scratching our heads...PLZ HELP!!!

Sounds like an air leak. After it starts sucking air it starts running lean and thats where the extreme idle is coming from.

This would also indicate the tune that is always changing.
Seal the motor up by adding some silicone gasket sealer around the carb after removing it and reinstalling it. Add some gasket sealer to the back plate as well behind the roto start/pullstart after removing it and reinstalling it.


Let us know how things got after that.
