Thanks Eddy! I will get that cut before I send the stripped parts to CE Coatings to be powder coated golden.

Hey I know that CE COATINGS place..... can't wait to see the parts

Ok we are back in business here!

parts.jpg

So Michael from Motek sent these out super quick and I cannot say enough about the service support from his company. On with the show I say. I picked up a red 14t pinion just pretty much for looks, and a GPM rear axel carrier. I also bought the previously mentioned Heavy Duty Stearing kit by Motek http://www.dxmarket.com/wwwteamepicnet/products/EXO-1504.html for $9.95.

He also sent some extra hardware for my trouble which wasn't hardly anything at all if you think 2 days is trouble? I don't. Anywho I will be posting more pics soon as the build continues on.

Take some Red Devil Lye drain cleaner and put some in hot water. Then take the pieces you want to take the anodize off of and dip it into the water. I promise that every once of anodize will come off and it will look clean as a whislte. And it only takes seconds without using a toothbrush. I think this will work better then the eazy off.

Ok let's gett his show on the road.

exo1.jpg

Notice the rear pod. It is hinged on a ball and cup. This is the makings for a fully adjustable and actually indepent suspension of the rear pod from the reast of the chassis.

exo2.jpg

You can see the two ended ballcup a little better in this picture.

exo3.jpg

This picture clearly shows the two different sections of the chassis, front and rear.

exo4.jpg

Here are the Chassis's side arms for dampening from left to right and vs vrs. This will help eliminate chassis roll and evenly transfer the weight from side to side in the corners.

exo5.jpg

First you hook them onto the rear section.

exo6.jpg

Then you connect them to the main portion of the chassis like so. This is were your stock springs come into play.

exo7.jpg

Better picture of the rear, and the new red GPM motor pod.

exo8.jpg

The AE VCS shock they had anodized to match the hardware and other aluminum.

exo9.jpg

Hows the rear pod action?
It looks as if the side arms are stabilizers. I assume the side springs can be changed for different pod action. They look like Ass. front springs from my L4.

Nice!

I like it so far, but I would like to see it on the track and play with it for a while. The side springs are called "dampeners" and help control the weight shift from side to side. Its almost like a tri shock system for the rear pod. Like I said earlier this chassis has a lot of engineering that went into it.

UPDATE

Waiting on batteries should be here tomorrow. I have been out of town for 2 days. I will post pics of how to cut the metal bulkhead brace tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Hey HB thanks for the great article, I wish I had a camera these pictorial projects are a great read, even if you don't have the model in question.

Thanks for the kinds words Lykan, it is great to hear as I do it for the members. Look for more to come tonight!

Is it going to be difficult to change battery packs on the fly?
Looks like packs are buried deep under everything. Its a bitch to change them on my original EXO chassis and was wondering if they made any improvements on the new one.

I will have to see once my batts arive from Blind. It should be today or tomorrow. I wil let you know. The races up here are 10min or 5 min heats so should be too much of a problem because I can make a switch between heats. Very good question though Ed!

Still waiting on some stuff like stuff from Atlashobbies.com (I don't know why I ordered from them again) and some stuff from Blind, like the batteries. Kinda in limbo until I receive this stuff but here is the stuff that is here (has been here for a while)

Here is my custom cut GH Aluminum front bulk brace.

Sorry for the delay everyone. I should be posting more stuff starting Moday. Life has been hetic and beleive it or not there was a lot to order and I also made some last minute part changes.

The stripped parts left for www.cecoatings.com today where my bro FSTFBDY is hookin up the killer color powder coating on the aluminum. I have to give props to [email protected] for all his quick service and great products if you want a micro this is the shiznit. Props go out to Blind @ www.blindbatts.com for making the sweet as EX02 pack for me excellent work I have to say!

I can't wait until the batch of tuned Rabid's come in but I got a stock Graupner Speed 300 aka the same motor everyone uses it is made by Mabuci in China. It is model 7E. This is a Big Block 300, a Speed 300, a Chubby, it goes by many names but it is a Mabuchi none the less http://www.mabuchi-motor.co.jp/english/ Now people are tunning them under load on a Dyno so that is what the Rabid Chihuahua motor is as well as the Beast motor.

Until next time, and stay tuned the best is coming!!!!!

Damn those little buggers look shiny FSTFBDY!!! Good work for sure so far! Cannot wait to see the color we decided on, It will deffinetly be one of a kind custom job.

Here is a pic of my IDP R-18 I received. I soldered it up to a new Speed 300 last night as well as soldering the quick caps on the motor. It was my first solder job ever and more to come on that as far as a how to for sure. It's nice to do a review on something you have to learn about as you didn't know because then you understand not having a clue and you can help other newbs understand better imo. When you know how to do something for a long time, it is easy to forget the "simple stuff".

Thanks to J Smith for turning me onto that ESC as it is badass and saves a lot of real estate for sure. Can't beat the price either I got it for $50 shipped to my door and this thing can handel 10 cells and 480 motors so the sky's really the limit with these baddogs. (the R-18 will only run 6-10 cells, you cannot run 4 or 5 the voltage cutoff will not allow it so do not buy this ESC if you want to run in a Stock Micro Class.)

Thanks to FastEddy and Error401 for some soldering tips, couldn't have don't it without all the great explanations! More to come tonight!

THE RABID CHIHUAHUA MOTOR IS IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

arrived today in my mailbox. Just waiting for my parts to get back from coating (where we found out some of the actuaing parts were too small for coating as they would not move) and once I get them back the project will get finished!

upon inspection I can see how they took it apart to get inside as I was curious because it doesn't look like the Mabuci Speed 300 comes apart. If you look close (bad picture) it is numbered and he even put the intials HB for me, j/k looks like a sig of the guy who tuned it or something.

Here we go almost done. Just need an antenna holder and I need to shoo goo the electronics and I am good to go. This project took awhile but the car is awesome. Stuck some tape on the electronics to test it out and it is very fast with this motor. It can handle the power very well. more to come.
