Ok i was thinking of going down some on the gears for more torque but i dont want wheelies all the time and what brand do you guys think i should get. I want both spur and clutch gears changed. Thanks

-Thomas

No need to change the spur if you just want more punch w/o wheelies. Go down a couple teeth and the c/b and you'll get what you want. Dont' want wheelies? That's all about throttle control

I am not sure what the stock configuration is but it is easy to count them. Mark one, then start counting around. I am on-board with Lessen, dropping a couple teeth on the clutch bell can make a big difference. It took me awhile to figure out that there is a middle ground on the trigger...but it is soooo fun just to hammer it!.....now why is the top of my lid all scratched up?

It says on the spur how many teeth it is. A looser slipper adjustment will optimize performance if your trying to avoid wheelies.

umm unless some 4908 models are different mine came with a 22 tooth bell and a 58 tooth spur and when i put my bigger tires on i lost wheelie power off the line so i went down to a 20 tooth bell which brought my wheelie power back, so in my opinion going down teeth on the bell should give u more bottom end power which is opposite of what u want....loosening the slipper will help but i also find its too loose it gives u less throttle response.......i would check for sure what ur running for gears, but if it is the same as mine 22/58 i would change ur spur to a 54 tooth(less wheelie power and more top speed) i am a newbe so all i can really tell u is what i have experienced......think about a 21speed mountain bike,if u want it ez to peddle, ur chain is on the smallest sprocket in the front(clutch bell)......ur chain is on the largest sprocket in the back(spur gear) maybe that example will help ur decision......hope this helps and goodluck!!!

True, but have you ever tried to wheelie when a 10 speed is on the smallest sprocket? It's much easier to wheelie when there is a lot of resistance. Think of a sled pull – the more resistance, the more the truck's front end goes into the air. :)

I could be wrong, too. I have never been good at this gear/math/ratio/torque stuff.

go lower on the CB and loosen up your slipper a bit until the wheelies are toned down to your liking, thats what the slipper is there for, the fine tuning!

You may be right maxxbash. My maxx started as a 4909 and it was also used so...Sorry for the bad info.

Change the clutch to the M2C, it lets the engine rev a lot higher before it engages. I honestly would like to shove the Traxxas stock clutch up the engineers ass. It's worthless.
