I broke this off my rear shock not once, twice, three times but four times right in a row!!!!! I mean I fixed it and two jumps later it broke again! The same part on the same shock! Any idea y I can't seem to fix this? I am going to rebuild the shock either tonight or tom. But do you think it could be something eles? Aslo I want to set my bug up for big air cause this is what I seem to be doing! Any tips on a good setup?

Looks like you need to re-do the shocks and suspension pivots....You have the rebound on the shocks real tight right now ;-dont you?.........If you want to set it up for big air then get the long travel rockers and the aluminum upgrade shocks with the stiff springs and no rebound tension......

Heres how my Revo handles jumps with the setup above...I could do this all day and land the same way 9 times out of ten ....

I have on blue springs and the tension on them is just so there is no slop! I use to be able to do huge back flips all day along. But I had the stock springs on. I do belive that the shocks on the 5308 are alum. When I say blue springs I don't mean a blue dot they are all blue.

Yeah they are aluminum but the ones I have-have little reservoirs on them made by Integy .I'm using the two hole plunger on the shaft with 50000wt silicone oil and I'm using the thick red springs and extra long pivots that came with it as extra to swap suspension travel rates and I also have an extra shaft o-ring seal squeezed in ...theres other brands of better shocks and aluminum pivot upgrades too.the traxxas shocks just dont cut it for overly prolonged bashing...really no shocks are but the traxxas shocks handles the worst by far for me..My Revo used to be unpredictable in the handling up to the ramp,on the ramp and coming off the ramp.....I now have perfect control of my truck with better quality shocks ,longer suspension travel and stiffer springs...

that little bugger cost me a main. the heat from the exhaust softens the plastic and makes it weak. get the aluminum shock ends. don't forget locktite. that cost me another main.
it is always the rear shocks. my fronts are plastic and have never given me or any other revo guy trouble at my local track.

So you say it's just cause they are plastic. Yeah it is the one right under the pipe to. Man is it getting to me tho! My friend has no prob with his? His truck is used to?

since i got the aluminum ones from tower i've had no problems(except the locktite incident). and i have to say the gtr shocks with tini shafts kick a$$.

I had an issue with busting shock shafts when I ran alloy ends on them. I went back to plastic. Still busted a shock shaft. I upgraded to TiNi shafts and adjust my suspension.

I was running P2 rockers with stock rods and the little red things with RPM arms. I had the ends on the rods mounted in the holes closest to center so it would stand the tallest. I'm pretty sure I was running blue springs all around with 45 weight oil.

Then I changed the pushrod hole on the arms to the middle hole and never had a problem again. Well... never had that problem again.

I never tried the LT rockers. I probably should have. I was flat out disappointed in the truck with the air it couldn't handle. Anything over 5-6 feet of air under it and it would slap the ground so hard that either the engine would move and cook a spur or the chassis would tweak where the engine was connected and cook a spur.

Other than that constant problem and my header problem I got sorted out, it was a decent little rig.

I gave up on it and got an aftershock which I upgraded as much as I did the revo and it can take 6+ feet of air all day long, but not require the suspension to be so stiff that it's still pretty plush driving on the small stuff.

I tried to make the revo work for the better part of 2 years. Probably 1 year too long.

Thankx olds I understand that! Yeah I have my rig in the center holes but no 45 waight oil. I to am not happy with the air thing either. I have the push steer thing going on to I think? I might try the LT rockers. I was thinking about going alum on them little dam things but then the prob would just go somewhere eles like bent shock shaffts? I would rather have to buy/fix them then some thing eles. So I guess there it is the revo just can't handle the big air. But what I don't understand is that it use to do just fine for me? Maybe I want more out of the truck then I did when i first got it? Well in a few more months I will be looking for a new rig one big buy each year thats my rule. Any thoughts on the cen 7.7 nemie?? I never really seen aftershock. I don't think the cen is a jumper either tho. look at me go going to derail my own thread hahah Thankx olds!!!

Nah its still on track (for the most part LOL) but if you want a good jumper go with a buggy thats what i have been told from some ppl

i can directly compare my 1/8th buggy to my Revo to my father in law's Associated MGT 8.0 - and nothing jumps or flys as cool and straight as my buggy - i need to get video..it is a thing of beauty - hell i can really adjust the attitude of the buggy in mid air with the throttle and the brake and even the steering....the trucks if you don't get it right or have them setup perfect tend to dive or back flip and then tumble...for jumps that look sweet it is a buggy all the way..i have a bent aluminum rear shock tower and a blown throttle servo from 100 jumps in a row to prove it ;)

On rough terrain though, a buggy doesn't do well. I've had a couple over the past few years and they are fun, but I get tired of them pretty quick with where I have to run them.

Unless the grass is cut close to the dirt, they don't get around really well without running warmer than I'd like.

I'm with you on the jumping though. You can launch them 10 feet in the air with 50 feet of distance time after time without an issue as long as you land shiny side down.

My savage and aftershock do well with what I do. 6-7 feet of air all day long without an issue.

Weezracen,

I hope you get yours adjusted to hold up to what you do. If not, just remember, there are other trucks out there that may be worth a try. ;)
