Haha, got my Big Joes in today. Had to modify them a bit so that they would hit the A-arms, and I had to cut the body very slightly. Now has full turning radius and suspension with no rubbing. Hoping to try these bad boys out this weekend in the mud pits.

Got the Buku 3 shoe composite clutch kit, with 34 mm flywheel and 15 tooth clutch bell ordered, hoping to see them and get them installed by this weekend.

Got about a quart of odonells 25% speed blend run through the new Losi 454 doing heat cycles for break in. Still having a bit of tuning issues, but hoping to get that worked out by this weekend.

Got some suspension preloads installed, front is about 2.5 inches off the ground and rear is about 2 inches. Also did a front end alignment and camber adjustment.

Next on the list to order, New tuned pipe for broad range torque on the 454, some exhaust rubber gaskets, possibly a turbo head and aluminum A-arms? Well find out soon ;)

Yeah, reminds me a bit of a hopped up revo at this point. Shock oil is actually factory at this point, but the the preloads the suspension is surprisingly stiff. I kept the factory oil because I still use this truck for dirt tracks and on road racing. For dirt tracks and light off road I run the factory tires, quick are knobbys, and I lower the body and remove the rear preloads. For on road I have a set of road hogs on tech 5 wheels with 1/2 offset for a wider stance, and I remove all non factory preloads and keep the body low. The range of terrain and driving conditions this truck will excel at with slight parts change is nothing short of amazing. I honestly don't know why anybody would buy a monster truck lol.

Seems like thats gonna be awefully hard on your drivetrain. and If I had to guess its gonna corner like a cow. Hope you beefed up your steering servo. Interested to see some video of this running :)

Oh WOW tires look awsome on that RIG + 1 your drivetrain is going to take a beating. I'd also like to see a video as well but good luck...

Well, I'm not too worried about it. These tires are for low speed mud bogging only. And I'll see what I can do about a video this weekend.

For me the stock shock oil is way to thin, dropping the truck from knee height would bottom it out. Because I jump mine a lot, I switched to 60 weight oil.

From what I'm seeing truggies are supposed to bottom out on jumps. That,s why they have a flat solid metal chassis. When they land the chassis slaps and takes a lot of the blow so that you don't blow shocks.

Whatever force hits that chassis is going to be transferred at least a good portion of it to everything attached to the chassis so you're electronics are gonna take a beating and your clutchbell/pinion have more of a chance to get knocked out of alignment. Thats why they make different weight shock oils and spring rates so the shocks can do what they were designed to do which is take the brunt of the beating not your chassis/kit.

And if your gonna be mudding with those big tires your going to need to stronger steering servo and your gonna have to gear down your clutchbell a bit if your gonna be mudding alot or your gonna burn up clutches fast.

Well, there really wont be much turning involved, and I wont be doing it a lot. Its basically a straight line trench at low speeds. And I have a Buku composite 3 shoe clutch on order, so hopefully with running low speeds it should hold up, seeing as I wont be doing it a lot.

But I'm all for getting a full out mud bog setup, what size bell and which servos do you suggest?

I'd gear it as low as possible for muddin'. Once your lugging around an extra few pounds of mud, everything is going to see a lot of added stress. Watch your temps close and gear it low.:)

Curious as to why you wouldn't want something more oriented for your purpose like a crawler or wraith? I'm not bashing you, just curious.

Or even a MT would be better for mudding than a Truggy....I am not bashing you either I'm also curious why you decided to go that route.

As for clutchbell Id get the smallest tooth count possible and Id get servos that had at least 244oz/in torque or higher.....brand is your preference.

The reason I went truggy over monster trucks is because.....originally when I got the truck I wasn't plan on mud bogging. It was cheaper for me to go this route than buy another truck. Plus, it;s unique and looks cool.

Not to mention this truck will go places that my friends tmaxx's just wont. It doesn't get hung nearly as much because of the flat chassis, and it doesn't flip as much when crawling.

Everybody has a Tmaxx or a Savage, not many people have an Hpi Monster truggy lol.

I would recommend against aluminum arms as they tend to bend and break.

Noted. I'm not replacing anything until it breaks =P And seeing how I don't run my truck hard (either just running around the back yard or almost idle speed crawling), I don't foresee very many breaks in the near future.

I'm just curious, what would you guys estimate the value of this truck at?

Truck has a total of about half a gallon of fuel on it, the new Losi 454 has around 1 quart. I've got a brand new set of Bij Joe's on Tech 5's, Brand new set of Road hogs on Tech 5's, The factory trucck wheels/tires, All factory preloads, Buku 3 shoe composite clutch.

I've got about 950$ in the truck total, and the chassis barely has any scrape marks on it.

Anywhere from 50-100 bucks less than a new one. Rc's lose value as soon as they're sold. Aftermarket parts and spares mean little to most. Unless you happen to have exactly what somebody's looking for.

Ouch lol. Nah Id have to get at least 600 to sell it with all the tires and wheels I have for it. Oh well, was just an idea I was toying with. Guess I'll keep her.
