Monster slash 3-4s combo (under 180$can) spektrum vs hobbywing vs surpass (no castlecreation)

I picked up a Spektrum 130A and a 3800kv 3652 motor from Jenny's.
I run it on 3s in my 1/12 scale 4x4. Its currently set up as an SCT.
It FLIES on pavement. I can run it all day without heat issues on 2s. 3s gets warm.
Since that's not your thing, I have run it off road in moderately high grass, chasing my dog around, lots of slow and fast. No overheating on esc. Motor gets to the point where I stop to let cool for a few but I have no fan set up on it either. This is on 3s. I haven't run in the grass on 2s.
The only other thing... I did buy a programmer card from Horizon.
It has been pretty helpful too.

Thanks for the input. What i heard almost all the time is that spektrum is good. Hobbywing is just better. My lhs just want stuff that they can sell with no long terms problems and dont sell the sketchy stuff. So i have faith in them. They would sell hobbywing, the problem is they would get theirs stuff the same price as i do. But i have a bias against spketrum... I wanted to buy a gorgon first then i learned about the esc/reciever combo thing and it turned me off lol

Jennyrc looks amazing, I'm almost "searching" a thing that i can buy from them xd

I can relate with brand issues. I'm on the fence with Spektrum.
That said, I bought the Gorgon figuring it would be an upgrade almost imediately.
I bought this Spektrum with plans to replace it with a ROAR approved race system at some point.
Noble NB4 loiks like it will replace the DX4C radio.
I already have a 3900kv 3660 Spektrum to drop in the Gorgon. Purchased from Jenny's as well btw.
I just need a pinion for the Gorgon.
Then I need to save my pennies for ALL the other stuff! lol!

I feel like the Spektrum stuff I'm running now is good for bashing but I want to step it up for racing gear.

If this Spektrum/Android thing turns out to be actual spyware, I'll likely sell all my Spektrum gear and start over.

As I said, I understand issues with brands. Money is what companies hear so thats how we communicate.

I have picked up a few sets of shocks from Jennys. They came as pictured, as expected, as ordered. They will answer questions about their products too! They were less than 1 hour getting back to me about some shock questions I had 1 month back!

Alot of ppl dont like traxxa s but i own one lol when my lhs looked at the gorgon he was like "nahhh you will have to replace everything" lol. The gorgon still look like a really nice truck tho !

Shocks is maybe what ill buy from jennyrc.

Traxxas builds decent kits (at least when I bought mine). They're just a crap company.
I have other kits to work on so I'm not really agonizing about Traxxas.
I did just recently buy a Revo trans to replace my good and well blown up gears.
I like the electric but nitro is so much fun!

At first i didnt want to buy more than one car. But if i do, i want a tekno. its a bit sad how rtr is so popular. I would love to buy a kit.

I use the term 'kit' loosely. RTR is great for lots of ppl for lots of reasons BUT it leaves ppl feeling "inadequate"when it comes to making repairs or even diagnosing a noise.
I started with a kit. Tamiya Hornet is about as simple and straightforward a build as you're gonna find IMO.
I loved that car and knew ALL its tricks. I KNEW how to fix it. THAT made breaking it "ok" which made R/C fun! No "problem" with a break. I felt good about upgrading where I thought it was needed too.
Hopefully a good RTR for a "noob" will have similar "noob-friendly" qualities too.
I prefer kits to RTR. I'm no master builder but I know what I know. Its easier to sand a diff case so it seals right than to have to disassemble half an RTR because my rtr diff leaks, imo.
I like to make upgrades on kits where I see a weakness right up front during a build. Installing bearings over bushings would be a good example.

I don't own a Tekno but I hear good things about the quality and detailed manual.
They sound ike a fun one to build and run.

I made alot of mods on my slash so i guess I'm prety good now lol chaging the a arms was bit of a pain lol

If i own a tekno id want an mt410. But i think the first version was more of a 1/8 truck.

All the Tekno stuff looks good.
I don't really recall any "complaint" other than the manual being very detailed and that its necessry to reading thru before starting the build.
I don't mind the details, they make really nice stuff! I enjoy a challenge. Personally, I enjoy building as much as running my cars so win/win!

I hear Schumacher makes a tough kit to build. Thier cars are sooooo nice too!!!


I don't have any experience with a true 1/8 scale buggy yet. Just my bigger than 1/10 scale bashers so far...
