Mini T servo/electronics mod

The way he was talking last night, his miniT isn't an indoor truck anymore.

nope too fast really for indoors, or at least my house. I need a big open area to run it. The thing is quick and yes the shock thing is my main issue now. Losi said next month the Ti Nitride socks are coming out, and I can wait.

After drving this thing for a day and a half now, I just can't say how bad ass and fast this thing is. Turns on a dime, I have to be careful not to turn too fast or it rolls over when I am going to fast. I am impressed and the mod really was easy that coming from a first time modder. I had to losen the slipper just a tad as all I could do was go straight as the front wheels never touched the ground until full speed. It does wheelie nice with the motor case as a built in wheelie bar. I need to get another one of these things.

hey i put the big block in my mini and i think its a downgrade it dos not go any faster it takes off slower and dos not run as long so if you can i would put the stock moter back in i can't becaus i burn it up by puting rustler tires on:opps: but thanks for puting thos good pics up i was gonna do it all most the same way butt your way is beter

What do you mean the BB motor is slower? a 280 compared to a bad ass 300? What ESC and batts are you using? I don't know whats different but my BB is insane next to the stock motor. Is your motor hella old?

you could be right the motor is old i use to run it on 8 cells in the micro rs4 next week win i go get the t-maxx ill get a speed 300 and try it but now it is not any faster the low batt life could be caused by a bad motor thanks for bringing that to me

HB- Man, thanks for all this info! I already installed the Orion BB but have a Spy ESC and HS 85 MG ready to be installed. Just curious why you went with the 81MG instead of the 85MG? Am I understanding that the 2 rear servo mount screws will not be available for use after dremeling to fit the new servo? Also, will longer screws be needed in the front servo holes because the servo top plate will no longer rest in the origional horizontal position? Thanks again for this incredible information and the detailed pic's.

Thanks Scott! To answer your question the 2 back holes will not be available as you do have to dremel them out. The plate was mainly to hold the servo in place but since I Shoo Goo the servo in place it really serves the purpose of the radio tray hold down as the pin goes in the round piece and it holds it in place. You can screw it down enough in the front two holes but the plate will not go down quite all the way. You have to dremel a little material off the back of the plate to get it flush.

And there is no reason you cannot use the 85MG, but Iwouldn't use the nylon gears. The 85 is a little heavier and a little slower, not that it makes much difference I just thought it a little over kill. I filp my truck it turns so fast! I had to slow down the steering rate with my Xr3i.

Damn dude....you've already gone through three motors...lol, that's my kind of basher..hehe. You must have that gearing horribly wrong.

BTW......what does a complete Mirco Brushless setup run?? I wanna get one for my RS4 as the Elite Modifieds aren't lasting long enough for my tastes. Even with massive rebuilds.

Peace

My Mini-T is almost to the Maxx

I followed humboldtblazer's directions and got my mini maxxed out now. I was able to grind only a tiny bit off the rear servo top plate chassis mounts and got my 85MG to fit snugly in. It almost snaps in. I may have to modify the ballcup that fits on servo horn, it looks to be rubbing the servo top plate, causing a little bindage.

I also added a Novak Spy ESC and a XXL FM JR receiver. In addition to these mods I have an Orion big block, wheel bearings, and a couple 1100nimh bateries. My next addition will be the oil filled shocks.

Thanks to humboldtblazer for doing an X-L-ENT job on pictures and being specific on information like servo horns. :worship:

To those that are bagging on the Mini-T here's to you :puke:

What I did there was move the servo back slightly and there will be no bindage!
