I am having some heat issues with my latest build.

Ofna Hyper mini STe
Mamba Max with cooling fan
Nemesis 7L (3511Kv) with castle blower
13/42 gearing
3S 5000 Hyperion lipo
Castle BEC
Airtronics 94359 steering servo
Spektrum radio setup

I was running a 13T and it seemed too hot so i swapped over to an 11T and it doesn't seem to have gotten any better and actually it seems a little worse honestly.

Drivetrain is silky smooth

What gives?

Here is a chart from earlier. I ran it and let it sit and then temped the motor and esc, ran it for a few minutes and then temped the motor and esc again.
I was using a meter with a temp probe and the small drops are just me moving the probe.

put the 13T back in and my esc temps went up a touch but they are still very acceptable. My motor temps have gone down.
I sure wish there was a way to determine what pinion to run. The mod1 5mm ones are expensive!

I was told long ago...high motor temps mean gear up, high esc/battery temps gear down, high temps on everything you have the wrong set up. My slash has high motor temps with a 13t pinion, I just got a 15 and 16t pinion to try so hopefully one with help!

so i need to gear up..... esc is acceptable but motor is hot.

wife is picking up a 15T as i write this. This is gonna be nuts if it works. The truck is already too fast.

I got the 15T pinion installed today this was the result.

In the grass running hard the motor was hot( i could press my finger onto the end bell for 2-3 seconds before saying, "ow, thats hot") but within operating range and the esc was also hot but i could press my finger onto it and never have to take it off. After multiple high speed passes on pavement, it seems they both cooled off and were right about where i would expect them to be.

I attribute part of the heat to the fact that its 90-95 outside so i am starting off warm and my nemesis motor isn't the most efficient.

Now that my temps are acceptable its time to talk about the truck. This thing is insane. Period.

Its got great torque and will pick the front end up at just about any speed. It handles like a truggy and soaks up rough terrain very smoothly. It shreds the grass and is a blast to beat around the yard with. When you get it out on pavement it takes everything to the next level. Try to accelerate to quick and you will just be flying down the road with your nose straight up in the air running a massive wheelie. If you can calm down and smoothly accelerate, once you hit top end you can't help but smile. On most roads, wide open is only good for maybe a second or so since you are covering soo much terrain.

I love the truck.

Did you find out if we can get a daily pass to the track in Scott? I'm off Tuesday-Friday, you alpine and I need to get a session going!
