I was racing my mini 8ight yesterday and it started making a loud noise like something was stipped but pinion and spur are fine , any ideas?

Can't really tell if it grinding but it's really loud, but yea I do still have 4x4. And my slipper don't look the best in the world either, has grooves cut in it.

Can't get the screws out of the diff to check it, so I guess I'll get some slipper pads and see what It does.

Typically if a diff goes bad you wouldnt need to take it out to tell. The chunks and grinding noises are loud enough to where you would notice. If you put the front end on the ground and give about a 1/4-1/2 throttle and its fine try the same to just the rear. If no noises pop up than I would suggest the slipped pad replacement. I always start with the cheapest part first anyway and even if its something else you just freshened up a couple other pcs anyway. Good luck!!

I'm gonna say its the slipper pads, when you hold it off the ground and give it throttle it will barley turn the wheels, but all four do turn, and when i put it on the ground it wont move at all, on either front or back, and the noise that it makes isnt really a grinding noise, its just a high piched noise, almost like nails on a chalk board lol.

Yep, it's the slipper. Melted one in my mERV and it sounded like that.

If its doing it right as you start taking off, its probably cogging, My mini Sounds horrible, and htere really nothing you can do to make it better, i went into the diffs of mine 3 times to make sure thats what it was.

It's the slipper you can look and see the spur spinning on the slipper, plus I don't think it would be cogging cause everyone says that comes from the stock ESC and motor and I have the castle micro pro system.

I bought mine to Race, ran 3 races with it and the class dropped out at my tracks, so its sittin on the shelf, pretty fast, handling was OK, seem to be tough after you fix the shock breaking problem.

I love my m-8ight. Tough as nails, aside from the top of the shocks breaking off. The motor runs pretty hot on the stock setup and seems a bit small for the size of the rig.

I think I'm gonna put a traxxas motor on mine and see how fast it will make it, i have a few extras laying around :D

I love mine, it's killing me to wait on the slipper set so I can play with it

Well i changed the motor over to the traxxas motor and WOW........ what a difference, it was a tight fit but it makes it really faster.
