Anyone ever put an external charging jack on the micro-t 8xAA charger? I just did... but I haven't plugged it in to my charger yet. Charging all 8 at once will give me a better charge than doing 4 at a time. They will also charge more quickly. I don't want to fry the circuitry of the stock charger though.

If noone has done it or has concerns, I'll get a 3 pole switch so I can disconnect the battery wires from the unit and use the external charger jack.

i just charge the micro t pack on my big charger. you have to charge it really low mah but it works. and i seem to get more pep out of the rig to.

Well... that's good, because the charger that I was thinking of messing with is dead. I figured I'd throw in some new energizers and be good until the itch went away... and I get the batteries, stick them in, plug the truck in... and no red light. Figures.

How low mah? My charger only drops to .5 mah.

EDIT:
Well, I thought about what you said and figured what the heck, but I used a 4AA holder as my charger since I don't know what the voltage is my real charger kicks out. I realised that the little pack in the micro-t was so dead, that it wasn't registering more than .04 V on my meter. So, after about 5-10 seconds on the 4AA's (NiMH), I retested the micro pack and it was reading 3.7V vs .04V. So, I plugged it back into the portable OEM charger and what do you know, the light lights up and it's now charging!

I guess it was just too dead for the charger to work. Once it charges, I'll install it back in my rig. I took it out just in case the 4AA thing blew it up. I'll run it around until it's low again and try using NiMH cells in the charger.

Thanks for the mind provoking help!

I've heard that before, the pack being so dead the included charger wont charge it. I'm not sure what i charged it at but i think it was in between .5 and 1 its a 750mah pack right? so about .7

Slower (less amperage) is always better! No more than 1 amp for a battery that small. Hell even my 1500 mAh receiver batteries get charged at 1 amp. Good luck!

If the pack is that dead you will most likely have to cycle it a couple times to get it to accept a full (or near full) charge.

Thanks for the info. I usually don't go over 1A for anything I charge. I charge almost all my stuff at .5A. The only thing I charge at a higher rate is my cordless drill... at 2A.

As for the pack life, your absolutely right. I got about 4 minutes of run time. I may run it through a few more cycles tomorrow.
