so the Mgt has a 8.0 engine which makes it powerful and have alot of grunt to it. but since its so big, the top speed is not so good. I like to bash in grass and dirt sometimes, but i do like to drive on pavement too and let the the thing run!, i know the tmaxxes are lighter and can hual in a straight line............But the bottom line is What would be better of the two tmaxx 3.3 or Mgt 8.0 (No SAVAGE OR LOSI please!)

Not to be one to be a downer but you shouldnt post 3 threads in one section about basically the same thing.

I personally have had experience with the t maxx and it is a great truck with a very easy platform to work on so i think thats a good truck.

My vote is t maxx but thats also because I've never driven an MGT.

Haha Thanks bud....deleted the other posts....thanks for the advice too.

looking at videos of the MGT it does look like it has impressive power but it seems like its almost hard to control just wheelies all over the place. The t maxx has a nice smooth power curve and its very control able but very fun at the same time.

I say t-maxx I have 4 right now 1 is a stock 3.3 tmaxx one is a 3.3 tmaxx with a picco .26maxx on it, another one is a classic that came with a 2.5 with a 3.3 on it now and the last one is a classic with a 2.5 on it that I am just getting done rebuilding

^ true tmaxx fan haha. I remember when i had mine i spend hundreds on it and enjoyed every minute of it... gotta love those trucks... plan on making a video with my buddy and his maxx soon maybe inspire this guy to get one haha. just loo at youtube videos of the t maxx there is some intense stuff on there.

Always wanted a TMAXX, and would still grab one if I had the chance, so I vote MAXX

While I've never had the 8.0 I do have the 4.6 and a Maxx. Overall performance would go to the Maxx due to the less weight and amount of aftermarket available. Bashability I would give a nod to the MGT as I have beat the hell out of both trucks but find myself doing considerable less repairs on the MGT. Either way you can't go wrong. And both manufacturers have good reps in the business. I see it as a win win

Mgt all the way

I own an 8.0 and a 1.5 Tmaxx with an OS 18 on it and from what I've read its not that far from a 3.3 Tmaxx but it took some dough to get there. The 3.3 has a bad rap for blowing connecting rods and on top of that they still have plastic gears in their tranny. The MGT on the other hand has a useless exhaust on it and requires a tuned pipe and header to make the motor come alive. Due to the exhaust and a loose slipper my truck never shifted. Once I installed the hpi XL tuned pipe with the optional MGT header, the truck screams. Also the MGT has an all metal get driveline besides a few parts and is very easy to work on. I definitely vote for the MGT due to my experiences. Either way no matter what truck you choose it would be wise to seal the engines.
