hi I'm new to the forums and wanted to ask a few questions. i bought a duratrax overdrive st over the weekend but it needs some work. I'm new to nitro rc's and just was wondering if it was worth it. the truck needed glow plug, air filter, fuel, fuel lines, glow plug igniter, batteries, new pull start and it needs the battery pack with switch for the truck itself. i paid 60 for the truck and just wanted to see if it was worth it

IMO - It was absolutely worth it!! Duratrax is typically toward the lower end as far as quality goes but for $60 you can't go wrong. Some of the things you mentioned are all part of a "starter kit" for most people who just bought thier first nitro rig. You can get 1 for around $25. I would suggest Ebay for the pullstart as you will find cheap parts on there or your LHS as you can get the fueline, airfilter, and fuel from there as well. Good luck and where abouts in Mass are you located? Not to many tracks around here :(

Definitely worth it. Did you see it run? How was is stored? Before you go out and buy things for it, I would just get the pull start, and see what kind of compression you have, and after that clean the engine and open it up and post some pics. Just IMO unless your determined to enter the hobby no matter what you need to buy, I see no need in buying the starter pack or anything until you have a general idea what condition the engine is in.

i havnt seen it run and it was in a pawn shop in my town the guy at my local hobby shop said the engine has compression but one of the rods on the flywheel? looks bent i recently bought a starter box for it but i didnt know it needed batteries so I'm going to go and get some tomorow ill post after if i get it running or not

yeah man i dont know whats wrong with this truck i got another pull start. fueled it up,primed it,put the ignitor on and pulled it and it just wouldnt kick over i know theres compression and the engine heats up and i checked the glow plug i dont know whats wrong. and there was sparks coming out of the exhaust pipe i dont know why lol

hey as an update i got it running today ran it for a couple hours i took it to the local hobby shop and they had to fix a servo arm it started right up first pull but not I'm having a problem with the idle it stalls if I'm not giving it gas and if it stalls i have to wait 15 mins before it will start again dont know why

LSN is too rich and it's flooding. If it floods take glow plug out, turn engine over, give it a few pulls to get fuel out and then glow plug back in and it should stsrt

yeah man i messed with the needle settings today and i had it running earlier but now it wont turn over and theres fuel all over the cooling head and glow plug :(

thanks man it helped alot got her up and running again but i broke the pull start and my lhs is closed today haha
