Can anyone help me this is my 1st nitro car? I was a proud owner of a LST2 till i took it out of the box and started running it.... having problems with idle speed now coming very close to chucking it in the bin!!!! I imagine it's operator error rather than the car, i'm on my 6th tank of fuel and thought i'd be grinning from ear to ear however can't gey the car is idle it screeming the nuts of the engine and wanting to pull forward i've plaid with the idle screw on carb get it idling ok the when i put the shell on it cuts out adjust it slightly run the car then when it stops it starts screeming the nuts of the engine...... What can i do!!!!!!!!!!

Hi raaazzzeee, Thanx for your reply.....

Put all settings back to factory including LSN seems to run a little better, but how do i tune to get optimum perferformance if it's constantly on factory settings???

Get your HSN tuned first, then when you are happy with it, start adjusting the low speed. Remember very small adjustments go a long way with these motors. Think of the needles like a clock and adjust in one hour increments going one hour at a time. Do you have a temp gun?

Take the air filter/neck off the carb. Turn the transmitter and receiver on and look down the carb neck. You should have about a 1mm opening in the carb. If it is bigger, then this is why the truck wants to take off on you when it should be idling.

You may just be able to adjust the trim on the radio to set the opening. If not, then follow these instructions to set set the opening.

Remove the horn and have the battery powered on. Make sure your trims are set to 0. With the linkage connected to the carb, make sure the carb is closed to what is your idle setting. While holding that there, install the horn on the servo. If it does not slip right on, use subtrim to make minor adjustments to neutral. Now with the horn installed but not screwed in, pull full throttle and look into the carb. If the carb is opening completely, and while pulling the trigger, adjust your high side end point down until you just barely see the sleeve inside the carb barrel. Work the throttle a couple times and make sure it goes to full open when you pull. Once set, now you work your brake end point. While holding the trigger to brake, slowly adjust the end point down to the point where it just barely engages the brakes, then bump it back up a point or two. Work them back and forth a couple times and make sure it's all good and happy and tighten it down.

After you have done this, you will need to re-set all your needle settings back to factory and start over on the tuning.

Thanx for your help guys.... Next time i go out i shall start with the HSN I don't have a temp gun "are they a wise investment?"

If i get temp gun what are the optimum temps????

Depends on the motor. Average temps are between 230-250. 270 is usally high. You should be able to tune your motor on the way it sounds, and the trail of smoke.
