#5 and #4 most important.
Lykan, I can vouch for 1 - 4 but since this is my first I can't say so far abour the longevity of the engine.

I couldnt imagine a Siro .27 in a buggy.I took my Wasp .26 out of my Mutant Maxx and stuck it in my buggy and couldnt beleive it.It was super fast but hard to control.On a track it would slow me down i would hit everything but bashing picking up some height and distance would be cool.
 
I put a Picco 26 in my old lightning with a 14t CB and it was nuts, 18tCB and it was ballistic, but nothing compared to the Sirio 27 with the 13t. Ever seen a buggy just hop the wheels on pavement taking off? That's kind of what it's like. Ballisticly freakin nuts.
 
So what category would some of the ready to run engines fall in for instance:

TRX 2.5
S-25
HB .46
Force .25
XTM 24.7

Any highlights to any of these or some others that I left out?
 
they are all decent motors, but cheap

id rate the 2.5 high up, for bang for the buck. but after 1-2 gallons you need a new P/S.

i wouldnt even count the .46 since its only made for one truck.

Actually dude...the Trx 2.5 is a very well designed engine with high quality internals. To bad it's the most analy sensitive engine on the planet that doesn't' hold a tune for chit.

IME you don't always get what you pay for with expensive mills. I've had cheaper mills that worked great and lasted and expensive mills that where utter chit.
 
the force 25 is good for what you pay. if it stays together, i had one and loved it, but then the back plate fell off and the motor blew... but it had good power while it lasted, it would wheelie my savage (with savage 21 gearing and stiff rear the 25 will pull wheelies)
 
Well, NB 30% sold me a used trx .15 pro, I kind thought it was a dog, and got hot easy. On a maxx

I experimented with plugs, and fuel. I am running a 20% nitro with 16% oil now. Now, it's a rocket. (18t CB).

For being a .15 I'm sincerely impressed. Once I got it tuned for my elevation (he's from colorado) It runs like a champ. It starts quick, will idle indefinetaly and stays about 240..it peaks about 270 tops immediately after a high speed run.

Keep in mind this is a USED engine. Honestly I think the TRX .15 pro is underated for a .15 I would definetaly buy another.
 
Lykan - IME Traxxas makes quality engines. The 2.5 would go down as one of the best .15 engines ever made if it wasn't such a tuning nightmare for so many people. I'm very glad to hear that you got the fuel and plug's figured out for that engine as it can make you or break you. I have friends running MOd'd .15 pro's tht are nasty screamers but they don't seem to last long.
