Well pretty much I own a Savage 25, it is all stock but it screams! Very loud, louder then my friends T-maxx that has a tuned pipe! Is that normal for the 25 to be that loud?

I pissed off a neighbor and she said she was going to call the cops on me because it was loud. I dont mind how loud it is, i was always thinking of getting a pipe anyways. But i still want a pipe that will make it faster, anyone know if just getting the HPI tuned pipe will make it a lil quieter too. If theres no way to quiet up this engine then fine just reccommend the pipe that will do the most for the $$$.. thanks

I pissed off a neighbor

I was reading a thread on here before, and some ones
neighbor was complaining about the noise of the RC truck.

Some one suggested to wait for the neighbor to start mowing their yard and the go complain about that noise.

That really brought a smile to my face, but on a more serious note
I did some searching for you and couldn't find many things other then one guy saying STS (I think) pipes were very quiet and had nice power.

sorry I couldn't help more.

In this hobby we have a saying "$#@& The Neighbors!" haha. Sorry I'm not a savvy guy so I don't have any suggestions but I'm sure you'll get some.

You can buy one of those silicone exhaust deflectors. It may not be much but the extra length should help dampen the noise a bit.

Well thanks so far, I figure anyone with a MT would be able to reccommend me something, or would of heard somethings. I'm happy i got at least 2 people to write something!

Yea well i agree with the $#@& the neighbors but shes a scary lady! lol i just continued in my backyard anyways, I'm flerting with disaster with not water proofing my truck any. Just been a lil lazy, They usually are covered in snow, but right now i got the truck drying off and this is like the 4th or more times I have done this in the snow i guess I'm lucky.

Now back to topic, i would like to get a pipe asap if there is one to quiet it down and good performance. I got my truck finally running right and this $#@& happens. Still didnt pop a wheelie but i can tell its about to maybe cuz the tires were wet from snow. thanks PLEASE POST YOUR THOUGHTS I'm bored sitting in front of my computer waiting for them! :)

Do you currently have the "Ribbed" tuned pipe? Because I've heard that one is exceptionally loud. So if thats what your running most after market pipes should be quieter. Once again I run a Revo so I'm not sure whats available for Savvy's

Well yea you are flirting with disaster. And if you are taking your parts out and apart as you should be to properly dry them, it will only take half the work that you're doing to dry the parts each time to go ahead and waterproof it. Be careful, once your servo gets a lil corrosion built up from the moisture a few days before, you will open the throttle and it will just lose the signal and your motor will blow up from running so hard at WOT if you can't get to it in a couple of seconds and shut it down. It's going to be a costly mistake, so since you're sitting at your computer bored and you have your parts taken apart to dry, why not wrap the electronics or dip them in plasti-dip a few times?

I know my Resonator pipe is loud as all get out. My dad (who's half deaf) even says that I should be wearing ear plugs while driving the thing. But then where's the fun? So far I haven't had any complaints but it's only a matter of time till a grouchy old neighbor moves in. Got three houses for sale on my street alone.

the cvec pipes were very quiet but they quit making them, if you can find one it would be alot quieter

I like this, getting very good opinions, looks like i will get that one off ebay, when i have the money. thanks alot everyone.

Now Olds97 LSS, do you have a scale for the performance part of those mufflers? thanks.

I have that ribbed pipe on my Savage and it is very loud, but I love the performance I get from it. The exhaust deflector does indeed help with noise.

Now Olds97 LSS, do you have a scale for the performance part of those mufflers? thanks.

Performance scale on OS21RG

HPI polished = Best overall. Added punch mid-high RPM
HPI Ribbed = Ok. Added low end, lost quite a bit of high RPM power, made engine run warmer than I'd like.
composite stock = not good. Low power throughout, made engine run hot.

I have also seen the OFNA JP1 with the 26SS for the aftershock. It appeared to perform a little better still than the HPI polished pipe. A buddy of mine runs it on my old 26SS. It's a little quieter too. I ran the HPI polished pipe with that engine.

I was going to say, if your dont really care about performance, you could get a savage x pipe with the internal cone. I heard there really quiet.

Isn't that the HPI polished tuned pipe we're kind of talking about? I thought it was... If not... well, I'm really wrong and I don't know what I have!

I got an HPI polished tuned pipe with my Savage X SS kit. Does HPI have 2 models of polished tuned pipe? If they do, that would explain some of the confusion.

ah ha, thanks that clears things up a little. My savage X SS that I just got came with the polished so I was confused.

ya i wouldn't go with a ribbed pipe with the situation that your in but thats the pipe i have. i use mine in a sand pit behind my house which is either almost a mile or a mile away and my parents said they could hear my savage, so it is pretty loud. but it does make it sound pretty powerful. I've heard some savages and compared to mine it sounds like mine is makeing like 10 hp
