Losi xxxtcr to xxxsct trans

has anyone ever put a gear diff in a ball diff truck, the truck in question is a losi xxxtcr that i hear the ball diff wont hold up on carpet long, when thats all we used to run, has anybody tried a xxx-sct diff and trans case, saw a video of a guy saying it works with newer electronics better, just curious, as well if anyone knows where to find a diff case, as alot of suppliers are out of stock

It's been a very long time since I ran the XX/XXX-CR and it's tranny. I'm sure the tranny could handle quite a bit of power. I don't know your plans for motor/class.

losi xxxt ball diff change to a 1/10 desert truck diff thread may answer some questions. Trying to adapt an older discontinued platform to run can be a headache as you seem to have found out. What I do in these situations is download manuals to see what/if tranny cases; bearings; diff gear tooth count are the same. Joining a XXXT group is another great resource. A forum (like linked above) is more geared towards "racers" is another step in your info gathering quest.

How long a person can handle those late-night searches for one stinkin' part... how much patience do you have?

Curious if you've actually seen any of the ball difs blow out and if you know what motor they were running?
I also ran a ball diff on carpet for years with hot brushed motors and never had an issue.
I've heard the same things about ball diffs and brushless.
I put a gear diff in my Optima for now but I think I'm going to hate it!
I have a new ball diff on the bench waiting for install just in case!
I'd like to know how this turns out!
