i have a xxx-nt and my engine is about to crap out on me. i was looking at some engines and my friend suggested to put a traxxas 2.5 or 3.3 in it. anyone heard or tried this. is it even possible. if so, how would i do it?

What engine do you have in the xxx-nt now? THe older ones used to run a side exhaust/rotary carb engine.

The 2.5/3.3 are both rear exhaust (with a small non-standard exhaust port) and a slide carb.

I had one of the older ones that ran the side/rotary engine. I replaced the stock Mach 15 with a OS15CV-R(X) and really liked it. OS discontinued that engine, but now have a 18 of the same variety. Also a really good engine. I had one for my NMT a few years back.

i have a dynamite .12 engine with a rotary carb and side exhaust.

did you have to do any mods to get the os to fit?

Not that I can think of. Is your pull start or starter box?

You need to figure out what kind of cranshaft you have. Whether it's standard, short or whatever.

This should probably fit the bill for you:

Even if the crank is too long, you can cut it if your careful. I had mine so long ago, I don't recall what/if I had to do anything extra.

The footprint of th engine is the same as a .12 or .15, so fit shouldn't be an issue. The head may be a bit taller, but that's about it.
