Hey all, Ithe am new to the electric scene and am looking at picking up a mini. I am having a hard time deciding between the Losi Mini 8 and the vxl mini e revo. The Losi is actually cheaper than the Traxxas but what are hi points of both these mini rigs? I am swayed toward the Losi because of the name and price, its $250 with either a 2s or 3s lipo.

The mini 8ight is a buggy and has a lighter esc/motor combo than the mERV (270 vs. a 380 for the mERV). The mERV is more like a truggy. I actually own the mERV and really like mine.

To expand on HPIguy's comment, in general, Losi/TLR is racing, whereas Traxxas is bashing. I know a few people who do race Traxxas, but most people move on to Losi/TLR, AE, Kyosho, etc for racing.

So if you are bashing, get the MERV.

I have never been to a track before but want to start going. So why would the Losi be more suited for the track over the Merv? Are the shocks and suspension better? I have a ridiculously modded Revo that people say I should try running at the track so I would like to take both even though other people say that they are not competitive. I'm not looking to race at this time just would like to get some track time!

Weight, balance, adjustability, other things like that. Don't get me wrong, with enough experience you can win with a Traxxas.
