So I'm getting into the electric world, last time I did it was around 18 years ago and alot has changed. Anyways this new truck I just got came with the Blue losi 2 cell lipo. I got a new charger from my dad that has a balancer circuit in it but the losi batteries balancer connector didnt fit. The guy at a hobby store said they use there own connector. So I bought a connector that fits my balancer and swapped plugs. I could of just cut and soldered but I wanted to keep it clean and pulled the pins and did it right. I'm glad I asked the hobby store because I ordered one of these

and I'm planning on running it next to the battery to monitor voltage so I dont run the battery to low. Now I see it does use a different plug then the losi battery came with so when I get the voltage reader it will plug right in.

What exactly does balancing do, I figure it must be better for the battery, does it improve run time or extend the life.
Also does losi sell a special charger that uses there plug to balance, from searching online I couldnt find one.

Anyways here is a pic of my modification. Only cost me $1.50 per connector.

Make sure and run a low voltage cutoff if your truck doesn't have a lipo compatible esc. They're about $20. Balancing keeps the volts in both cells equal on a 2s pack, or all 3 on a 3s pack and so on. It's vital for more reasons then longevity. Lipos go pop and burn if they're overcharged or ran too low.

Yeah I ordered that digital display instead of a cutoff, its for my Losi Mrc and since I'm no more then 5 feet away at the most I can just look at the voltage, my other option I could find was a beeper. I'm using the stock esc.
I just saw on this site the whole battery post, and the balance doesn't have to be done for each charge.
