I personally don't like smaller cameras. I prefer the larger ones, with me it's gotta be good in functionality and how its feels in my hand. Do you have a sammy's camera around where your at? They're usually very helpfull and will answer your questions. I got a nikon d50 dslr there recently. Alternatively you could try consumer report.

The two gig memory stick price looks steep. I'd also advise looking at different memory card formats and prices.

This camera is too new.
They didn't have a test with it that I know of.
I do need something compact for family use.

Video Graphics Array: “standard” screen size of 640 by 480 pixels.

I'm assuming thats what they mean by vga.

Well I guess you can check previous versions sony camera line. And you need at the bare minimum like 1/2 gig of memory and double that if you use full quality. My last 6.1MP minolta at high quality only could store like 13 pictures with a 512mb card. But realy you need to check out a camera store as some new cameras are able to better compress pictures and store them in several formats.

...Nevermind about the 2 gig being high priced I was looking at another one for $450. Seeing as its like $170 get a two gig stick.

I like the specs, and I like Sony products. My wife has been shopping for a new digi SLR and she got a subscription to Photography Mag. I've been skimming those mags, so I will take a peek tonight and see if they reviewed it.

Thanks for the help.
I have to look into the memory stick issue.

That screen is HUGE!

Seems like there is a lot of tech stuff with this camera.
I'll just leave it on automatic.

I like Sony products...I got the DSC-F828.....has more features than I'll ever use and it got confusing to use for a while.....adn after 1 year I'm getting used to mine finally....

I've had 3 cybershots so far. I've loved everyone of them. My current is the P-150. 7.2Mpx and photos come out awesome. Even has some manual controls for aperature, shutter speed, focus, flash delay, etc, etc. I dont know much about this model but the best thing i can suggest is to make sure it comes with a good lense. The Carl Zeiss lenses Sony puts on some fo the Cybershots is very nice for the price.

I have the Sony Cybershot DSC-P100, and I love it it.... Not much of a low light camera, but in good light it takes amazing pictures.
