Make sure the ESC is set to lipo mode to protect your pack.

No, you'll need to consult your manual or the Traxxas website and download it here; http://traxxas.com/sites/default/files/6708_manual_101025_0.pdf Find the section on ESC settings, and make sure you have it set to lipo mode so that the LVC (low voltage cutoff) is enabled.
