Ok I have a few Li-poly Nihm battery questions, I just don;t get it.

I am looking at two different packs for my Venom Mini Giant, and option three, just some nihm aa's. So here's my question.. If I get a 2300Mah li-poly, and a 2300Mah nihm pack, is there oing to be any difference in performance, or run time?

I hear about li-poly's all the time, but if there just the same run time why go li-poly with all the dangers and expensive chargers?

Alos, If I can get 2300 M<ah Nihms for less, why not just get the plain olke aa's?

If somone could explain the benfiet of Li-poly I'd be glad to listen. Is it just that they are a lot smaller and lighter? or is there more juice in a 2300Mah Li-poly than there is a aa pack rated the same
?

I love my mini-giant, I just want a bit more power if I go with a better motor, I know I am goig to have to upgrade the batteries or be stuck with 3 minutes run time lol

#1 Li-poly 7.2 volt pack linke here

#2 Nihm pack link here

#3 Plain ole' aa's link here

Thanks Rolex.. 45 minutes of runtime with a hopped up motor is damn good!

I'm wondering what Mah rating they are running? I hope you get where I am coming from..why waste the extra $40 for the same amount of runtime/power..

They are both running Mamba brushless motors. I'm not sure which ones, but they are INTENSE. One of them was clocked in a parking lot by the local police at 51 MPH. It's been geared higher since then, so it's probably 60 or so by now. It's also very stable at that speed.
I'll find out the rating on their batteries for you in the next day or so, when I see them again.

plus two li-poly cells are 7.4 and they are lighter than nicad and ni-mh

Okay, I called my LHS and got the info for you. They are both running LiPo 1900 mAh batts, and yes, they are 7.4 volts.
They are definately worth the extra money over NiCads or NmHd.

Lipoly's have a big problem with blowing up though. I know if any of the battery acid comes out, it'll start like a 2000 degree fire. People have had their houses and cars burnt down. You will want to have something to put the batteries in when you charge it. My dad bought this $20 clay pot made for charging the batteries.

Also, lykan, if you'd like to see how strong a li-poly is, my dad just built an electric plane running a 3-cell li-poly pack and brushless motor. It hasn't flown yet, but i'll be glad to show it to you sometime. The power is CRAZY.
