Hey everyone, thanks for listening. This is my second second hand xmaxx( first one got stolen) anyway this unit I have now is a piece of work so I am rebuilding it as we speak. When I say piece of work well you have wood screws holding it together, the motor leads are so short I can't possibly change pinion gears (hopefully I can post pics). Every time I look at it I kinda get angry at the idiot I bought it from for being such a hack when it comes to repairing things. My one question as of now is the velineon fan for my motor.how do I hook it up exactly? The fans are wired together with no leads to go to esc. Any help would be great thanks.

I would just let the fans power each other! 🤣 🤣 🤣

Seriously though, yeah that guy was definitely a hack. a couple of those photos make me cringe. As for the fans you need to make splitter that comes off of the ESC and not only has a splitter on the end to hook up both the motor fans but also needs a splitter coming off the ESC side for the ESC fan to plug in to. Or if you have an open slot in your RX you could run a splitter from there to the 2 fans. either way will work.

Personally Id replace the motor with one that has proper motor wires.

This reminds me of a we fixed dat. Someone replaced a car air filter with a new in package one. Then they couldnt figure out why the car ran poorly. They literally put the air filter in a box in plastic wrap in the airbox.

To fix the fans, I would cut off both plugs, twist red red, black black, and solder and heat shrink them with another wire you color coordinated, then add a male plug for the reciever.

I would also purchase an aftermarket screw kit.

If it came with batteries, Id also get rid of those.

Can we get the guy's address that did this so we can go lynch him? I would tear that thing down to the last nut and bolt and rebuild it. What a mess.

And so sorry you had an XMaxx stolen man. That had to hurt. How did that happen?

The only problem with that is if one fans goes out its a lot more work to replace it. Just a thought.

As mentioned from @WickedFog , I would tear it completely down myself and then throw a rock at whomever worked on it in the first place.

Prolly the same guy that previously owned Stoners Duratrax 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
I was thinking that exact same thing. I mean, this and Stoner's is the first time I have ever seen drywall screws in an RC. I was probably actually guilty of the nail for a hinge pin thing myself in my youth, but I guarantee you it was much prettier.

after wood screws have been used .so we all think the factory screws will have enough bite to hold it together?.maybe.. as for fans . Id leave the plugs but cut both wires and solder and heat shrink them to a servo extension plug long enough to make it to esc or rx to plug in... good luck with the motor esc wires...

That's awesome. Bit of a tight fit I imagine. I've never heard the tell of that kind of stupidity.
Do they sell screw kits that are not s.s? I have found they strip to easy in the past.

Yeah that's what I'm working on. Even the chassis pieces need replacing because he has holes drilled through it for some reason.
When my xmaxx got stolen it just about took my interest from the hobby away. Xmaxx was not the only one, summit, outcast, revo 2.0,swerks buggy, all of my years collecting parts and screws...

That really sucks man. I had my apartment broken into about 5 years ago. They took about $10k worth of stuff. The bad thing was I just went through a divorce and the only good things I got in that were gone. Bose speakers, componebt stereo system, tons of high end vape gear, $1200 pool cues, etc. My ex's son had already stolen all my RC stuff from my things before the divorce finalized, and the judge didn't care to be bothered about it.
