  1. Where do you work on your machines and what does it look like? Right now? When clean and clear?
  2. Where do you keep your tools? In a toolbox on the bench? A drawer? The track bag so they're always handy?
I've been lurking for months, casually posting for a few weeks. Seen lots of cars hung on walls or parked on shelves. Curious how you guys keep things organized.

I've seen some miniature mechanic's toolboxes, but also like the idea of keeping everything in the bag that goes with the machine when it leaves the house. This is how I roll in the Mitsubishi--any tool I use to fix or install something at home goes with me into the field. It's served me well.

Right now, I've got the entire ass-end out of the King Cab and a handful of transmissions taking up my bench, so I've been working on the UDI and Kyosho at the kitchen table or on my desk in the office. I'm getting tired of making trips back and forth looking for tools, ya know?

Please and thank you.

I built my own bench using a 2x4 frame, which i painted. Then added laminate kitchen counter top and some melamine shelves. Then i fabricated wall mounts to hold most of my cars and trucks. I use an old school plano tool box to hold all my tools, which sits to my right on a storage tote. I slide it out when in use and then under my bench when I'm done.

I had to figure something out where I could study as well..:hehe:

I switched bedrooms and moved everything to my bedroom last summer so it doesn't only function as a repair bench. When using the right fuel and when cleaned properly I don't have to deal with any exhaust fumes after bashing days🙂
I built the plane closet last Christmas and honestly wish I had made the wooden one just like it..
I like the toolboxes with little boxes in them, they really help order e.g. screws and O-rings.

I used to have a dedicated spot at our old house. Folks, it was sweet! I had a rectangular shaped room, more like a closet in the basement. But, I had one desk along one short wall that had my gaming PC, wide 1440p monitor and the typical home office stuff.
Then on the other short wall was a 50" TV and below it was my RC workbench, it's a matching table/desk that went along the other wall.
I had the PC connected to the TV so I could pull up manuals or run videos. Whatever. It even had all the connections I needed for my old gaming consoles.
On the long wall I had shelves with the cars on them; the good ole days!!

Now I am kind of transient. I'll wrench at the table, at my disaster desk space in the basement (no you cannot look!) and my garage.

I think the garage has become my new favorite spot. You can make a mess and it's not a big deal. I can leave things kind of undone and it's cool. The basement my cat climbs on the desks :/

Here's what that looks like on a rig cleaning mission;

It's also a charging area and transition space when heading out.

For my tools, I have had the same toolbox since I started racing in 2014;

In the lower compartment on ourdoor race days there would be two chargers and a 120v power Y splitter just in case.

I also had a large Plano wheel about case that held two to three cars with a ton of tires. Those two plastic containers were what I brought with me on Race days. OH! And a cooler, always need lots of liquid!

I am currently getting ready for an outdoor event on the weekend so this is what it looks like for that.

Charger, automotive connections because we're not going to be around power, emergency zip ties, hardware kit and lots of tools.

Hey! I've got the same green toothbrush in my kit! :p

I'll take a picture of my messy, basement bench if you will. Haha.
