Superfish was installed by Lenovo on computers sold between October 2014 and December 2014 (though any Windows computer could be infected!). In simple terms Superfish is meant to place advertisements on your web browser, however the adware also intercepts encrypted traffic, such as traffic when you check your bank accounts.

This would allow a hacker to use what's called as a "man-in-the-middle" attack to grab your passwords. In other words if you're running a Lenovo computer you should stop using it to check bank accounts and other sensitive accounts with said machine. Lenovo and any other windows user is suggested to check out this website to test if your computer might be infected: https://filippo.io/Badfish/

For such stupidity, it's time for Lenova to go out of business.
I just read it this morning that the new Lenova tablets came complete with malware installed in the OS.

This is why the first thing I do is wipe the drive or install a new drive and do a fresh install from Microsoft that I have downloaded and verified to be virus/malware/bloatware free. All I get from the computer mfr are the necessary drivers for the hardware.

yeah, unfortunately stuff like this is becoming more and more prevalent these days. SMH :(
