Okay I was breaking in my new 2.5r engine in my tmaxx and it was running great so I finished for the day and tried to start my car up again the next day but I realized the fuel tank was leaking from some where on the seal line in the middle of the tank. I filled it up to see where the leak was but couldn't find anything so I tried to fire up the car. It will start but not go and then it shuts right off. Could this be related to the fuel tank leak or do I have 2 totally different problems. If you need more info just tell me what you need. Thanks.

Well i know for fact that a leaky tank will cause you to never get a tune on it and more than likely run lean constantly. But for it to start and not stay running is a tuning issue. Saying that you need to get a new tank and make sure all seals are sealed before you can keep a tune on the engine. When my tank seal was leaking on my revo i couldnt keep it tuned and seemed i burnt a dang plug every 2 or 3 tanks i ran through it. Got a new tank and havnt had that problem any more.

Okay thanks. I'm thinking about trying some duct tape as a temp fix till I can get to the lhs.

Duct tape wont work. The nitro is corrosive. Get the fuel out of it dry it very thoroughly and use some epoxy or jb weld. I've used 3m scotch-weld before successfully but only temporarily. Hell even ca glue will work better than tape.

While not a bad idea I would sugest just springing on a new tank so you know the problem is fixed. JB weld will run around $5-$7 to where a new tank will run around $10. Spring the extra $3 and fix the problem. A bandaid ona broken leg is still a broken leg!!

Phins he was just gonna do a temp fix till he got to the lhs. I only mentioned jb thinking maybe being a hobbyist he may have had some lying around. Other then that, yes, get a new tank and fix the problem because even epoxy wont hold up long.

Do the Ofna Violator fuel tank swap on the TMaxx and be done with the old prone to breaking, 1/2 tank lean fuel tank once and for all.

Gotcha. I kinda skipped over the whole until I get to the LHS:hehe:

Okay well I am buying a new tank but snook Man can you please tell me more about what you said about the ofna fuel tank.

The Ofna violator tank http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHTA0&P=ML is the most popular replacement for the stock tank. It holds a little more fuel, has a built in fuel filter, 360° rotating pressure nipple in the cap, much more durable and reduces the ½ tank leaning issue the stock tank is known for.

Relocate the stock battery box or remove it altogether and strap the hump/flat pack to the shock tower or preferred location. Drill 1 hole for the front attachment post (most use 2 stock bellcrank steering posts if you do not purchase the Ofna mounting posts) and use the stock battery box hole for the rear post.
