This is not what I was expecting.
This is the body from my 6x6 that was orange. The back and sides had some cracks. Plus I want to make the 6x6 into a hard body. And I used all the electronics from the 6x6 to complete this build. So now I can build a new 6x6.

I painted it green after weeks of debate and looking at options because I have green paint leftover from another build. So greening it is.
I used a vinyl covering for the hood. And trim to fit the G-Shot sliders.

I need to remake the front bumper. It was to low and long.

Remade the front bumper mounts to raise the bar just a little to help slide up vertical surface’s so the tires can make contact. It will also act as a fairlead

Thanks I am really looking forward to this one.
But wait till you see what I scored yesterday.

FINALLY got out on some rocks with the G-Shot.
First I had to add 25 % expo to control the power of the Puller Pro 3500. It’s the motor from my 6x6 and is a beast. But with expo and a throttle curve adjustment it feels nice and smooth.

I only drove it across the top of my rock pile and used my best truck first to gauge it’s performance.

It is a whole next level thing. As an example I have a very steep rock that I can get two wheels on and test my side hilling ability’s . I put a rig up on its side and keep getting closer till it falls over.
This thing got all four wheels on the rock and drove to the top hung two tires off the side and went down the outer side. No problem.

Now tonight I’m adding a Kratos 10 Brushless motor.

Can’t wait to see if it’s as smooth as they say.

Still have not actually run this rig and already upgrading it again. But this is just awesome.

I needed a frame for another project. So I stole the frame from my G shot and went for this green carbon fiber to replace it. For what ever reason I can't photograph it properly. It actually looks black but when the sun hits it from a certain angle it shimmers like an emerald.

I don’t have a favorite rig. But I do have high hopes for this one. So far it is very good. But this weekend is the big rocks.

Ok first time out on the big rocks. This is what I like about crawling. Going out on a beautiful Sunday morning and having some fun. And I am.
The G shot is really amazing. The rocks are clean but the ground is muddy. So I carried the G shot out and set it on the first impossible climb and it had zero problem. When I tried with wet tires it failed like everyone else. And for the record did not make it from bottom to top. And on another crazy climb it failed. But I really pushed it past it’s limits and when it was good it was astonishing. BUT when it failed it was because it’s top heavy. No way around it. I have climbed around this area with a lot of rigs and this thing does not side hill as well as expected. And the weight over all is not great. I’m a little surprised but and here we go. Portals! I want to like them but the higher center of gravity is a real disadvantage. They definitely drive over stuff without hitting anything. But my straight axle rigs drive over the same stuff and hit things. I think that’s better than falling backwards or falling over on the side.

And since I BROKE my front axle on the first battery pack the decision is to put straight axles on the G Shot and retest.

I need this rig to be under 2500 grams and 60/40 weight distribution.

Let’s see how this works out for me.

I don’t know. I will say they are not expensive. But then again it looks like it took a hit. The big rocks do not forgive weakness. And this is not good. I hopes the wider track would open up new lines. And with the boom wheels I can change the offset. But the wider track did not help on the couple lines I tried. But mostly because of the side hilling.

So I was curious about the higher COG of portal axles and how that affected them. Are you running full droop on the shocks? They don't appear to be. I would try that and see what ya get.

With full droop I bottoms out and will not clear a couple of the obstacles in my yard. I would like to try a lot of things but breaking the housing has dictated the direction I’m going. The rear housing I’m using is 200 grams lighter than the Capra portal and the front is 500 grams lighter. But the Capra axle has brass. I am going to pull as much weight off and retest with what I have.

Gotta reverse the motor also .

I dropped 1.1 lb without the portals and now I also went to a lighter the spring rate. I like droop to be about 50% plus. With the portals I used the medium springs and they bottomed out going up most angles and it would not do my basic back yard. So I changed to the hard springs with the portals.

Now with this lighter weight axles it seems bouncy even with the 80 weight oil. So I changed back to the medium.

I rebuilt the wheels so they have a little wider track than a normal AR44 but not as wide as the Capra axles.
The boom probuilt racing wheels are great that way.
Still need to do some testing l.
And the wheel speed is nuts. Gotta change the gearing also. Or add sway bars or maybe wings ;./

I need to get some weight up front and figure some brass can’t hurt. And of course the bearings are toast one axle is shot and I should go for brass knuckles and C hubs while I’m at it.
Back axle is fine. But front axle rebuild is now a thing.
