Looking at alternatives to mini e revo/summit and considering LC Racing EMB 1h or MTH. MTH looks like most obvious choice, but is the 1H different besides body and tires? I like the looks of the 1H better and would like to be able to simply swap tires and pinion to run against my son in law's MERV, but wondering if there are other, significant differences like springs, shocks, or other suspension related areas. I'm pretty sure the chassis, motor, esc and suspension upper and lowers are all the same. We aren't planning racing on a track, just backyard and campground kinda stuff, but it is just so much more fun when the cars are evenly matched.

I have both merv and LC. the lc is bigger and faster and built better .I like my lc best...

emb 1 back from when they came out..like 1995 only broke 1 A arm from a 50 mph cartwheel then hit a tree

The 1h and MR are essentially the same car, only difference is tires/body(posts)/bumpers/wheelie bar (not sure if it comes stock on the MT?) So it's basically just a shell swap. Now obviously the 1h also comes as a kit without electrics and some of the parts in the kit cars are slightly nicer so there's that as well. If I wanted an MT I'd start with a 1H kit

Is it the same as the emb 1h in size? I thought that was almost exactly same as merv. Or is the OG emb the longer wheel base like the truggy?

Very good info. Thanks. Oddly, on Warren RC, the kit is more than the artr when you ad in the motor and esc option (which is also a lower amp rating than the artr but same motor, but I don't know about quality.) What parts are better in the kit?

The EMB and the MT are the same size, the MT looks bigger do to the bumpers.

From left to right, is a WL Toys 144001(EMB clone) that I turned into a monster truck, the EMB-1 and the TGH.

That is the 1/16 Summit in the middle just to give you an idea of how small the EMB-1 is.

The kit includes sway bar kit, D115F Servo, Ti coated shock shafts, 4 alloy hex adapters and the three pack of pinions. Both the kit and the rtr come with a rebranded 16BL30 esc. The kit page says 30a esc but that is a typo.

I would get electronics separately, also check Real-toys store on aliexpress and check the "Choice day" coupons from aliexpress you should get the kit much cheaper. I think some nicer shock shafts, possibly CVDs, arms, but you also get a selection of springs and pinions and other tuning items in the kit to mess around with tuning it a bit. And you paint the body yourself. The ESC is a rebranded Hobbywing 16bl30 which you can buy for $20 on Ali. Get yourself a cheap YSIDO motor on Ali which is only $12 to go with it and you have a stellar budget combo.

This is super helpful! Thanks!! I had to re-check specs on merv - didn't realize that summit has noticeably longer wheelbase. Seems like a compromise will have to be made as the THG would be enough bigger to be pretty unfair. The emb 1h with bigger tires like your conversion might be as close as I can get. I prefer the smaller form factor, albeit not too small, for being able to carry in a day pack on a walk through the woods (enjoyed that with the merv previously.) Thanks a ton!

As far as tires go 1/10 rear buggy or anything listed for the Mini E-Revo. Wheels you will want either the Lc MT wheels, the Lc truggy wheels or wheels for the Mini E-Revo.

If you are already looking at LC Racing may I suggest the TGH https://casterracingmi.com/index.ph...h=173&product_id=1799&sort=p.price&order=DESC or the LC12B1https://casterracingmi.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=173&product_id=1943&sort=p.price&order=DESC

I have the EMB buggy and the truggy the LWB of the truggy is so much funner to drive ihmo.
I was actually considering the dth both for the price and the longer wheelbase, but I think it would give too much advantage over the merv. I don't doubt the superior driveability.

I will definitely look into this. It sounds like a perfect solution. I was really hoping to stay under $200. Shopped for a used merv or summit for that very reason, but kinda want to try something new. Similar, but different. Been down the path of trying to run with a significantly different sized car and it wasn't fun enough to repeat. Thanks, again!

Checked it out and not seeing anything like what you described. Things must've changed or I'm not doing something right. Haven't used Ali in a while but it seems as sketchy as ever. They have the emb 1h at the Real Toys store for $217 with free shipping, but on the side bar it says shipping is $68? Didn't see anything under choice. Do their offerings change frequently?

I can't figure Ali out either! I've tried a link or 2 posted here for "best price" or even a specific dollar amount. When i click the link I get no special deals. lol!
I use a VPN. They don't play well together. I can't help but wonder if that plays a part.
Honestly, its sketchy as hell to me. I am not sure I would ever actually order.
I see lots of ppl talk about LC Racing as a legit brand, good quality.
I've watched a few vids, ppl running them, one specific vid of it running paddle tires on the beach and man does it just BOOGIE!!!
If I were looking to buy one, I wouldn't hesitate.

You are correct, I see that now only the LC12B1, Truggy RTR, kit and pro kit, and some 2wd cars are free shipping. Looks like the store has bumped prices within the past month, because I picked up an LC12B1 which is the top of the 1/12 and 1/14 LC food chain for only $150 plus tax.
Wouldn’t be bad to support Warren RC because they provide most of the LC parts here in the US, but if you decide to go with the long wheelbase platform I would only recommend the LC12B1 (193 plus a 20 off coupon so 173) or the Truggy non pro kit (201 plus the 20 off so 181) from Real-toys. Otherwise just buy local :)

Ali takes a bit to figure out, but it’s been amazing for me. I have also imported electric scooters from the parent company Alibaba with no issues. I have actually never been scammed on Ali with dozens of orders for hundreds of items (and abusing new user deals multiple times) and gotten some pretty nifty deals :)

Best time to buy is either the first 3-4 days of the month or the 15th/within a few days after the 15th. Get the aliexpress app and if you shop during those time periods they will shove some great coupons in your face. If you want a great deal, my favorite “category” is the super deals category. Biggest discounts during the aforementioned time periods. Hope this helps!

And the LC12B1 order SS shows a slightly higher price because I split the coupon up with more items in the order, but by itself would have been $150-155. Instead of the normal 193 from that store, and the retail is like 230+! 😳

Well

Well, at least it's not just me :-D. I may check back, but I'm too leary of aps to go that route. I appreciate the extra info, though and will keep an eye out. May just go with Warren b/c their prices aren't horrible and I've read good things about their customer support. Not in a big hurry, although I am liking what I'm reading about these little cars. I'm kinda boxed into the emb 1h or the mth due to the only person I plan to run with having a merv. Or, if a good deal comes up on a used merv I may go that direction. I was happy with the one I had, just didn't find the time or friends to use it with back then. Sure appreciate your input!!

Well, I caved and ordered the WLtoys 144010. Wanted to support the OG, but the price dif was just too much of a draw. RTR w/3 bats $125 out the door on ali. Thanks for all your info and advice!!
