One of my kids - my middle son just does not seem to enjoy fast RC's. But I recently got a cheap crawler, and he will drive that truck around all day...
I picked up a cheapo $30 or $40 crawler for the kids a while back, and the only real complaint they had was the all or nothing steering, and it seems like you need to spend a decent amount to get one with proportional.

The one I got was a YY2003 from Banggood. They sent it to me to review. about $50, military truck with three axles. Proportional steering and throttle. Until yesterday, my only complaint was it didn't have much steering throw, so the turning circle was huge - probably 15'. Yesterday, I added crappy gearbox to my list of complaints...

This was yesterdays run. That rock is actually a pretty steep hill, under a railroad bridge over a small creek. It broke at about :50

Huh. How hard is it to get parts? It looks like a fun toy for the kids, but I think the turning radius would ruin it for me. I should just buy a good quality crawler for the whole family to share. I really wish I had more money... Maybe I'll start a gofundme so others can support my rc addiction!

No parts at all right now that I have found. True Toy Grade in that regard. I expect Banggood will send me a new truck when they see that video (that is what they do), but I kind of expect #2 to break just as quick... :(

The detail in this chassis is fantastic, though. Truly a 'scalier'. But beyond the gearbox and steering, there is also the suspension - or lack of. It has leaf springs, but they are stiff enough that it makes it have almost no articulation.

Any updates from people that were seeking smaller scale vehicles in this thread? I'm looking at the latrax, dromida, redcat... reviews everywhere say they're super cheap plastic parts and break which is frustrating for the price point. I had a 1/16 slash unopened i traded for a new Senton 3s but I still want a small durable rc to keep in my truck for parking lot adventures

We officially have a latrax for every member of my family... 3 Tetons and 2 Prerunners... They have proven pretty resilient, except for 1 servo that randomly stripped, and my 5 year old that ran wide open into the tire of my truck in the driveway. Even that was less than 10 bucks to repair. All in all, I am happy with them so far.

Awesome thanks! I guess I can give them a shot... though I'm not sure which one I want. Even the rally looks like fun to zip around on the asphalt Haha

Do they come with wall chargers or DC chargers? And about how long to charge them?

If you want to get in the grass at all, the teton tires are the only ones that work. I actually took one of the Prerunners and put a teton body and tires on it... They come with a wall charger, and I think it's about and hour to charge. I ended up with some of these from a guy selling on Craigslist and he had some extra batteries to boot, so I just set up a charging station in the basement and we always have extras ready to go. They're definitely fun for what they are, and oem parts are pretty dang cheap.
