Not trying to be a D-Bag here; although, that is my specialty

but I have my doubts.
If you have been watching Red Dawn and think you will be Rambo, best of luck. Everyone thinks they are a tough guy until they get shot. That crap on YouTube about "Tactics" is 90% BS, don't watch it, don't believe it. The other 10% is based on years of training as a team and experience in battle. Until you're looking down the barrel of a gun, it's all theory.
For the apocalypse, the skills that I can contribute to a society will be far greater than a laser pointer or any small arms you may acquire. Medical, agriculture, real engineering (not that Python programming crap kids do), building, etc are all very valuable skills. I think about hammer a nail, turn a wrench, make diesel fuel, gut a deer, make fire, help the wounded, feed people. Things that are fundamental and can be done without power, go a long way in a crisis. These are the things that will keep me and my family alive.
Electronics are delicate, don't work in inclement weather, vulnerable to breaking and EMPs. If you need a signal, get a flare. It more visible, last for a very long time, works when it's wet and universally understood. If you need to communicate, use flags, sign language, mirrors, or something that doesn't need batteries.
My best advice would be to lay low, blend in, and if there is a faction that you can support (and they support you), go that route. The lone wolf dies alone.
If we are talking basic survival stuff; I would want many other things that are not battery operated before that. Water, food, shelter. Everything else is gravy. You'd be lucky to have gravy. Flint, kerosene, medical supplies, even paper maps and even toilet paper go far above that on the list.
On my bug out list, a laser pointer would be right below my PowerPoint presentation on the Apocalypse.
